Respectable and Acceptable
My god people we just played Oklahoma and you are considering a 16 point loss like we just lost everything. While I was one of the more optimistic one on this game I was very pleased on how the Offense looked. Defense looked Ok at times and pretty bad at others. Omar is the real deal folks and this kid will be good. I just got off the phone with my dad and he is in Oklahoma and he said that the Oklahoma fans were impressed with BG and especially Omar. He said that all the Oklahoma fans were some of the nicest people he has met, very open to conversation and didn't bash BG. Also how many teams last year would give anything to be in our situation this year.
Texas 65-13
Texas Tech 66-0 or something like that
North Texas 77-0
We just went out and played with the big dogs and showed them we CAN compete with anyone at anytime!

I don't doubt we played well at all. We beat the spread by half of what it was and started to make a comeback late in the game. One more quarter of play and it could have been a different outcome all togetherfalconman wrote:My god people we just played Oklahoma and you are considering a 16 point loss like we just lost everything. We played a solid game, but lost to a great team. no shame in it. I am stoked for MAC play.falconman wrote:My god people we just played Oklahoma and you are considering a 16 point loss like we just lost everything. Omar Jacobs
I'll go ahead and say that I was one of those guys who was talking highly of BGSU before the game, and have even more respect for your team after the game....I was at it (in the student section, of course) and was amazed at how good of a quarterback Omar Jacobs is...he is extrememly talented, and I am nitpicking here, but he does need to fix his release point some times....Overall, though, BGSU just impressed the heck out of me....I can now continue wearing my Falcons hat on campus now that people will have some respect for them....great game and good luck this season!!!

First time I've seen Omar play. He really needs to work on his release... or the offensive gameplan has to get him deeper in the pocket or out of the pocket; other than that...helluva game...I enjoyed it...i bet there's a lot of teams out there who want nothing to do with us!
Another note: we need to go back to the old helmet - the new falcon is really difficult to see on tv...

I had a hard time recognizing it, too.dstubb wrote:Another note: we need to go back to the old helmet - the new falcon is really difficult to see on tv...
How hard is it to get realistic color broadcast on tv? all of the noon games looked like crap color-wise. I dont remember it looking so crappy in years past...the Iowa uniforms were unrecognizable.

I assume it was some anniversary game or whatever, but it must be nice to have an athletic budget that can drop the cash for throwback jerseys and helmets... unless of course they're going with that god awful look all year?

Iowa's Unis
According to an article, with pic, in the Cleve. PD the other day, Iowa was celebrating an anniversary of football by wearing "throwback" 1924 (or therabouts) unis.
They ALSO provided KSU with 1972 throwback unis to wear (their last good football team/Jack Lambert + Co.). Supposedly the crowd was to dress in the 20's mode, provided with "straw" hats for the men etc.
Kind of a neat idea...if you can afford to put out the bucks for it.

I agree that the Falcon was difficult to see on the helmet. I think it just needs some fine tuning though. The white stripe on top of the helmet is very wide, as are the brown ones beside it. In contrast, the Falcon is a rather thin brown with a very thin white outline. I think if the Falcon was done in wide lines (like the stripes) it would be just fine.Falcon30 wrote:I had a hard time recognizing it, too.dstubb wrote:Another note: we need to go back to the old helmet - the new falcon is really difficult to see on tv...

I thought the new unis looked great, though I didn't pay much attention to the helmet logo, admittedly, and I was at a side angle watching a projection screen (clear enough to see Charles Sharon extending for a couple TD grabs, not so hot for seeing details on uniforms)
But the new unis looked alot better than I had first imagined. Omar certainlyl fills his out!!! On the first series, they came to the line and I thought "where the hell's the QB? and what's that TE doing behind center!?!"

Ok, good, I'm not the only one that thought this. It looked like it was a mini football the first time I looked at the AP picture. The guy must have some huge paws. I was surprised how composed he was out there. Having your first start against Oklahoma is no easy task.Schadenfreude wrote: As far as Omar: Saw a photo of him in today's Blade.
