Offseason 2022
Re: Offseason 2022
About the TJ Lloyd situation, with him going to Fairbanks, he is alot closer to home. Maybe that came into play.
Re: Offseason 2022
I think you're underestimating how far Fairbanks is from central Canada.

Re: Offseason 2022
He’s from Lloydminster in Saskatchewan.
It’s a 26 hour drive from BG, and 33 hour drive from Fairbanks.
Kinda broke my brain when I looked it up, but it’s true.

TJ LLOYD is from Lloydminster, yet the distance is what broke your brain?

Re: Offseason 2022
Hastings is apparently in the conversation for the Sparty job as well.
About a week to go before Pearson's contract at UofM is up.

And Pearson is not attending the coaches convention in Florida.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 11:23 am Hastings is apparently in the conversation for the Sparty job as well.

Doubtful UM retains Pearson. He can save some face by not technically being fired, and the university gets the pleasure of beginning to close that investigation against the program in a much more expedient manner. Mel will surely land on his feet somewhere.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 11:23 am Hastings is apparently in the conversation for the Sparty job as well.

Re: Offseason 2022
McMahon posted today in his blog that Hastings is indeed the leading candidate for the Sparty gig, and that Mankato likely doesn't have the means to match a big offer due to how the Minnesota state funded universities structure their salaries. They'd basically only be able to offer him more in bonuses. He makes $350K currently at Mankato and the word is Sparty's offer is well north of that number.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 11:23 am Hastings is apparently in the conversation for the Sparty job as well.

Wisconsin also announced Tony Granato is returning but it appears he's on the hot seat for 2022-23.
When did college hockey morph into college football?

Re: Offseason 2022
Granato got extended thru 26-27 so I doubt he’s on the hot seat at this point. He has the pedigree and looks the part but really doesn’t bring much in terms of skill development and scheme. I know a couple NHL guys who played for him and they said it always just about competing harder. They liked him, but every loss was the same thing, didn’t work hard enough.
Probably true to a point some nights, but that is a crutch mediocre coaches use when they don’t know how to fix things.

The all world netminder and Hobey Baker awardee signed a 2-year gig with the Marlies. I struggle to see how he makes it to the NHL and stays there. Not really Hobey or Richter material in my book but I guess that's why I'm a BG hockey fanboy and not out there casting votes.

I view McKay as Minnesota State's Wally Charko.......TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 5:10 pm The all world netminder and Hobey Baker awardee signed a 2-year gig with the Marlies. Wow, I just assumed that Fairbanks was closer to Saskatchewan than BG was. Chalk that one up for me being geographically challenged.

Alaska is deceptively huge. More than twice as big as Texas.
