Wow. He sounds like a great addition! Coastal Carolina is a solid program. This is great news.

Re: Portal 2021
That's four OL then by my count?
Marcelo Mendiola
Jakari Robinson
Bronson Warner
Kam Stewart
My guess is at least three of them earning starting spots, if not all? Be curious to see how many guys transfer out following spring ball. Have to imagine there will be some kids who recognize they're not going to be cracking the two deep anytime soon.

It's 12 months late...but the OL is being rebuilt. a positive step indeed

One Existing O lineman is recently injured. Could be out for the season…. So that “ frees” some space, if you will.

Re: Portal 2021
Just updating here, the following guys are in the portal:
Tucker Melton
Malone VanGorder
Elijah Eberhardt
The deadline to enter the portal and maintain eligibility for the fall is May 1, so this isn’t surprising - especially because guys have had the spring to see where they stand moving forward. Every program in the country is seeing attrition right now. I just hope these guys are successful wherever they go.

Riley Keller had offers from BG, UT, WMU, NIU, WVU, Iowa State, and Ole Miss. He was the #2 rated pro style QB in Ohio and for all that he ended up at Tiffin.
Tucker Melton had a whole host of offers from mid major southern schools along with BG and Akron, and he was the #2 rated pro style QB from Alabama. And we'll see where he ends up. Recruiting is far from an exact science given how many offers these two guys landed.

I wonder how many of those offers were “take” offers? Most people mistakenly believe that a player chose between the schools that offered him. Likely very few or maybe one is a legit take offer…..MarkL wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 9:07 pm Riley Keller had offers from BG, UT, WMU, NIU, WVU, Iowa State, and Ole Miss. Can you tell us more about the distinction you are making here? I would have thought an offer is an offer.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 7:51 amI wonder how many of those offers were “take” offers? Or how many of those had (scholarship) money behind them? Not all offers are the same.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 7:51 am

I will give it a try. Coaches offer verbally just as a player will commit verbally but is non-binding. Sometime in August official scholarships offers will be sent out to players & those are true offers. Once NLI is signed that makes it officially official. Heck, even more confusing, players do not have to sign NLI.

Re: Portal 2021
An offer means “we like you”. BG might ( before the portal) make 150 or more offers. They only have 20 or so to give……Many are to players they have no chance of getting to look relevant (and maybe, just maybe, they might fall thru the cracks to them in February). Most of the time, when the offer is given, there is no opportunity to commit on the spot. Example: you are a TE. Loeffler offers you. But they Like 3 other TE’s more than you. They are going to wait to see which of the 3 TE’s they like more than you they might get….. if they don’t get them, then they start working you to commit. OSU might put out 80 offers…. You would think 60 would commit on the spot right? They are not take offers. Leverage to have you walk on later….. games they play with 17 year olds.
Adder: they offer you, then the stall: we want to see how this Fall goes with ( your grades, your route running, your off the field X, your footwork, your weight, etc, etc)

I'll add that those offers can be used as leverage in the kid's favor as well. If you're talking to a MAC coach and have an "offer" from a B1G on the table.....roguewarrior wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 1:47 pm An offer means “we like you”. Maybe if a late Big 10 offer comes in, it might inspire A MAC team to push for a commit if they were wavering…. Not like there is a negotiation. Full ride is a full ride.pdt1081 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 2:14 pmI'll add that those offers can be used as leverage in the kid's favor as well.
