We don't have a coach capable of building a cohesive team on the fly

I hope he can work with kids at least. My son wanted to go to the camp as soon as I told him of its existence, so he's going to get a week of hanging out and learning from coach Huger (and supposed to also get to play with some of the players).Globetrotter wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 11:24 amWe don't have a coach capable of doing much of anything
I will not be surprised if he's reprimanded for telling coach Huger he's a bad coach...it'll probably be a miracle if he makes it through the week without saying some of the things he's heard from me on the subject.

In the realm of future head coaches yet to come -- Jake Diebler was just promoted to associate head coach by Coach Holtmann of the OSU Buckeyes. I do believe he will be the next from that coaching staff to become a head coach. The coaching bloodline is definitely there, since his Dad was a very successful high school coach in Ohio.

So...is some of those equipment or travel $$$ from the men's basketball budget funding the camp?

I wouldn't touch him. I played basketball in the area and remember his dad.Falconwriter wrote: ↑Thu May 05, 2022 2:37 pm In the realm of future head coaches yet to come -- Jake Diebler was just promoted to associate head coach by Coach Holtmann of the OSU Buckeyes. Achor chose Samford.fredthefalcon wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 12:00 pm Let's take it away on a new JUCO offer. Achor Achor an Australia out of Chipola College. Listed at 6'9" 222 and a SG. Really seems more like a PF. Averaged 8.4 as a Frosh with 5.5 rebounds a game. Chipola's site shows that occurred on only 8 minutes a game but that reporting is fraught with errors as they show Achor playing 1 minute in each of 9 games yet throwing up 42 shots. Maybe he really is a shooting, shooting guard. Other offers show the mid major likes of Samford, Bradley, NC A&T, UIC, McNeese, and Bryant.

The future is so bright. To only Bob Moosbrugger. Joe Reece is available and would be the leading scorer immediately.
Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
It’s unfortunate….Tough thing between Loeffler and Huger is even if they both have bad years again (which is a pretty safe bet) at least one of them is probably back.
Football is using this rebuilt o-line to create some false hope, but basketball I don’t think you can fool anyone on.
The roster basically has to carry the coach at BG and this roster isn’t going to be able to do that.
Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
I'm not sure coach K would have a winning MAC record with this roster. Maybe I'm jaded watching them play under Huger, but I just don't know where the production comes from. An inefficient transfer from Duquesne? A couple of decent looking Freshmen recruits? A skinny redshirt? The only returning players I really have any hope of showing us something more are Matheny & Curtis.TommyG wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 9:46 amIt’s unfortunate….Tough thing between Loeffler and Huger is even if they both have bad years again (which is a pretty safe bet) at least one of them is probably back.

This season could be really ugly.

Matheny has shown nothing since his first 10 games or so with us 2 years ago. He still cannot finish near the rim, he still is a defensive liability (albeit less so than originally) he still doesn't actually facilitate the offense.hammb wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 4:47 pmI'm not sure coach K would have a winning MAC record with this roster. He's a miniscule little 2 guard who can only score when left wide open. He's got more going on for D1 than Swingle did, but that's about it.

Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
Chandler Turner could have a big year this year. Mills might also.
Speaking of Joe Reece, what other players have just up and decided to not go on a road trip because of "mental health". Hugor wasn't the only problem, don't kid yourself.

Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
Correct. Huger isn't the only problem. The bigger problem is Robert Moosbrugger. If Chandler Turner or Mills are the best options on a Division 1 basketball team, 20 losses are in the future.
Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
It is quite likely that getting rid of the 2 guys helps with the chemistry. Still not sure that is going to result in much? I don’t think there has been much accountability since Stacey left. Team might get along better and there may be less distractions, but you still have to have talent and coaching to win. I think best case scenario you’re looking at an 8 seed finishing a few games under .500.BleedOrange wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 10:38 am Chandler Turner could have a big year this year. That would be overachieving.
