Makes me wonder who, if anyone was evaluating and recruiting OL in Liefgler’s first year or two.

We went through a terrible year with a poor OL last year because it was The Right Thing To Do. We're now going to run off or replace the guys we bit the bullet to develop last year so we can completely start over with an OL that will have few weeks to build chemistry in the fall.

We're behind the 8 ball and the season hasn't even begun

Hey, they did get older though!

Older and hopefully better....although I don't have much faith in Heddon being the guy to pull that off

CJ Lewis, who will be in his 6th season of college football this fall, is transferring over from Boston College.

He's a WR with 41 catches and 661 yards plus 5 touchdowns across the past 2 years in the ACC.

He was a 3-star QB coming out of high school in Connecticut with offers from BC, Tennessee, Buffalo, and UConn - but he was athletic and transitioned to WR.

Nice size at 6'3, 216 lbs.

I really, really like this addition, especially with Broden needing surgery and him going to be out awhile. Lewis was a starter for BC last year before he was injured. It sounds like Broden is going to miss maybe the first month of the season (hopefully no more than that) and this pickup could/should really help. I also heard we are one of two schools in the running for a Power 5 OL who is transferring from an ACC school. He was pretty highly rated coming out of high school and should be deciding any day. Fingers crossed.

Had a decent 2020. Injured last year so numbers obviously down. Good size for an outside WR. So far most of these BC tranfers haven't worked out too well, so time will tell.

The offensive lineup is going to look quite different this year. A largely new offensive line, a new backup QB, now a new starter caliber WR. Hopefully it all pans out nicely.

Broden had surgery in January. Was on track for fall camp unless something happened since end of spring ball? New guy is reported to be better than TB…. Or maybe turn into another TE? Ha What they call him doesn’t matter anyway, they all interchange and run same plays.

They hope to have Broden back by the MAC slate. He's likely to miss some or all of the non-conference season. The target date is by week 3-4. So we'll see. Nothing new reported yet on the potential new OL transfer. I was told he's choosing between BG and Marshall. I believe he was just in for his visit the other day.

Damn, we didn't get the transfer. It was Tim Lawson from Louisville and he picked Marshall. Interestingly enough, we play them on September 17.

That really is pretty wild. Just kinda goes to show how much of a crapshoot recruiting can be on this level.
