Well… someone’s gonna have to fill the void on ESPN.

If our commissioner is worth anything, he’ll be pushing hard to get the MAC some national TV games on Saturdays.

SEC is moving to ESPN. I would sure hope the result is more Saturday games in November but I'm not holding my breath on it. ESPN needs midweek content and the MAC needs money. It stinks.

Yep. On top of that fans of MAC programs will have to sign up for Peacock and Paramount Plus to watch any non-conference games vs. B1G.

I think it's great. We are the only football games in the country two nights a week every November, and the biggest brand in sports television pays the MAC millions of dollars for the right to broadcast them nationally.

Meh. The MAC sold their soul, and they're fortunate that ESPN has begun cozying up to the sports wagering industry or else I feel the relationship would be in trouble. The midweek games pull in decent enough ratings (around 1M viewers for the marquee matchups) and a large chunk of those viewers are folks with money on the game. The product as a whole is mediocre and probably wouldn't be surviving long term without that.

As a season ticket holder I just hate the fact that there might be a game or two I can't attend due to work or family commitments.

It is an 8+ hour drive for me. I can go to one, maybe two games a year. Now it effectively means no November games are attendable. Those are the key conference games.

I do worry about the future of college football with deals like this. ESPN effectively controls the postseason, and I worry with the NCAA becoming less and less of a presence that we could see a Big 10 team getting snubbed in the CFP.

Also have to imagine with the money getting so serious that players are going to be required to play in bowls soon

This deal will end up being much more with the additions of USC and UCLA -- and the very distinct possibility there will be more schools added as the birth of (at least) two super conferences happens in the next year.

There's apparently a clause for Notre Dame. If they join within the next 7 years the price goes up.

I'd be shocked if the B1G is giving ND 7 years to decide. They simply won't increase the income of the league that much -- and they aren't members of the AAU, which the B1G has required to maintain billions in research grants to its members. If I were the conference, I'd give ND a year to decide, then tell them to go pound salt...and I wouldn't allow the conference to schedule them, either.

My hope is that expansion somehow brings in Georgia Tech and Virginia or UNC and Duke. I'd also invited Arizona and Colorado, so the Big Ten would have a footprint from coast to coast in contiguous states. Remember, it's TV markets that bring in the money. GT brings in Atlanta, Virginia has DC, Arizona has Phoenix and Tucson, and Colorado would add Denver. All of those are top 20 (or close) markets.

Anything that is quoted from Twitter I take with a huge salt mine (grains of salt are too small). I honestly doubt that the expanding of the B1G into a super conference is going to last over a 7 year period.

For me as well. Tough to get there by kickoff when you're 2.5 hours away and kickoff is at 7. I don't like being in an empty stadium on mid week games, either.
