"Non-Revenue" Sports Success

Post by BillyLP »

I know they are second fiddle, especially on this board, but wanted to give a shoutout to Men's and Women's Soccer and Volleyball ahead of this season. Men's Soccer and Volleyball both picked to win the MAC and Women's Soccer picked to finish 2nd. All three have been built into very solid programs that can compete with the best of them thanks to great coaching staffs. Football and MBB are definitely the money makers and have been severely lacking, but credit where credit is due. These three sports have been very fun to watch and follow over the last few years.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

It has been fun to see these teams do so well. The MAC was a real force in men's soccer last year. (Now if we could only find one more school to bring in. Chicago State has us at five.)

I've thoroughly enjoyed watching MSOC, WSOC, and VB dominate the past few years and make runs to the NCAA tournament. It's become an expectation around here that we compete for a MAC title, and I love that. I only wish our other sports could match that expectation level.
