Here's The Blade's report:

I'm speculating here, but I wonder if Rogers and Moosbrugger had a gentleman's agreement that he would have until the end of summer to find another job. This separation feels a bit awkward.
Also, the statement from Rogers is quite interesting:
Fundraising was said to be Moosbrugger's strength when he came in. It didn't seem to turn out that way.

Rogers seems to be saying: I'm moving in another direction because we need to improve revenue and adapt better to NIL."As Division I programs such as BGSU face the transformation of intercollegiate athletics — with opportunities such as name, image and likeness — along with the need to increase and diversify resources, and to refocus the holistic role athletics has on an institution, we need to consider new perspectives and strongly position BGSU athletics for the future.

Re: Does anyone want Bob Moosbrugger?
Bye bye Bob. Can they retroactively fire Kit Hughes too?
Re: Does anyone want Bob Moosbrugger?
Just like Christopher, the only fundraising he did was trying to cut a program. He would have been smart to move on quickly after that stunt.Schadenfreude wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 12:36 pm Here's The Blade's report:

That stunt like most things with Moosbrugger had Hughes pulling the strings.

Interesting timing. He and President Rogers were pretty chummy at Saturday's football scrimmage. I came away thinking something had changed.Schadenfreude wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 12:36 pm Here's The Blade's report:

Needless to say this is a hire that needs to be done right. You have a football coach who is teetering on the edge, a basketball coach who received an unjustified extension, and a hockey coach who needs to demonstrate this season that program can compete for a league championship. On top of NIL and fundraising, it's a massive task the right person needs to be brought in to do it.

Re: Does anyone want Bob Moosbrugger?
I'm not going to dance on his grave, because Bob Moosbrugger is a legitimately kind and good person.
That said, I'm very excited about the opportunity to improve the athletic department here. I really hope we make a quality hire that will elevate the department as a whole.

Well put. I've never met him. I do hate to see a BGSU alum go through this, though. I feel for him.
Hopefully we can find someone who can succeed in addressing the revenue challenges our department faces. And I hope Moosbrugger lands on his feet.

I do believe he's a decent guy -- but I am not sad to see him go.
BGSU has to get this hire right.

Unlike most on this board, I actually know Moose. He is a good man. He was cordial in all my meetings with him and even remembered my daughter's name. I am genuinely sad it came to this.
Need a great hire here. But someone is going to inherit a football program on the way up.

Re: Does anyone want Bob Moosbrugger?
The Moose has been cut loose...no reflection on him as a person because I do not know him. The next AD has a LOT of challenges to face. Crucial hire that they cannot flub.
Interesting that the senior associate in the department (Elsasser) was not made the interim director
Somebody might inherit Moe Ankney's team...it could be on the way up with a better scheme and trigger man, because the defense and skill positions look pretty strong

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Does anyone want Bob Moosbrugger?
This is absolutely needed and the whole athletic department needs a reset. I think the department is made up of some great people including some I know pretty well. All 3 major sports will have questions about the head coach within the next year and we've lost our top 2 in the athletic department without replacement. This has to be a homerun hire. Our operation staff has all been there for at least 8 years without change or improvement in years. I haven't seen any change in marketing with a person who has been there for 4 years. The department doesn't do a lot right and it has hurt us in every possible way for a decade.
Roger's has to get this right so we can get the right coaches in. Then we can get fundraising and game day experiences right. We have to the community and fan base rengaged

If Kit Hughes applies, just hit the delete button upon arrival....Hughes is the guy who contacted Jordan Strack to attempt to kill NIL announcements for BGSU athletes.

Who does the hiring?
And are they competent enough?

Re: Does anyone want Bob Moosbrugger?
Probably hire a third party. BGSU likely doesn't have the resources to conduct a search on their own.Falcon Commander wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 2:15 pm Who does the hiring?
