It means nothing, but Bowling Green has had done pretty well against Marshall over the years. In 1998, Bowling Green was having a miserable season but stunned the eventual MAC champions 34-13. In 2004, Bowling Green beat them in a nonconference game 56-35. (The Marshall fans who made the drive up from West Virginia were all pretty stone-faced when they walked out of Perry Stadium that evening.)

Re: @UCLA (9/3)
In that 2004 game...Brandon had them take a knee inside the Marshall 5 yd line with a minute to go. I think that was more...patronizing...than running up the score would have been.
That 2004 team could score points like no BG team before or since

Re: @UCLA (9/3)
2004 game was great . . . Marshall coaches were all flipping us the bird as we were cheering for Brandon to score one more TD
Re: @UCLA (9/3)
Great year other than the blown Toledo game. Could have scored 100 on WMU if they wanted to.

Those were very exciting and fun times for both programs and there was optimism going forward.Schadenfreude wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 11:57 amIt means nothing, but Bowling Green has had done pretty well against Marshall over the years. We're probably going to get stomped. If we play hard for 4 qtrs, I'll be happy. I hope we can avoid any serious injuries and an OSU style 70-13 type embarrassment

I’ll be there, sweatin to the oldies. I’ll try to report in if my phone works in the stadium.
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.
Re: @UCLA (9/3)
Glad to hear someone will be in attendance! I can't imagine there will be much of a BG showing outide of player parents and local alumni, but here's hoping it's a fun game to attend! Enjoy the Rose Bowl.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 10:50 am I’ll be there, sweatin to the oldies. I’ll try to report in if my phone works in the stadium.

Thanks! McDonald and Osbourne have a big local Cali tribe coming. Other than that, probably a dozen or so parents. Look for the orange dot somewhere in a sea of blue and gold! I've been to two Rose Bowl games. It is an awesome stadium. In another year I would consider taking the family to the game and a quick couple days in LA but the kids are too young to appreciate it. Some day though.

Same, wanted to go but have an 18 month old at home with a boy due in five weeks. Money has to go to bigger and more important things.

2004 loss to Toledo is one of the worst moments in Falcon history. 27-7 blown lead to those guys hurt my soulSchadenfreude wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 11:57 amIt means nothing, but Bowling Green has had done pretty well against Marshall over the years. The 2004 game was at the Ass Bowl. Walking out of there that night I vowed it would be the last time I will ever set foot in that sewer again.
Re: @UCLA (9/3)
I have been to the Rose Bowl and UCLA several times for games over the last few years. Unfortunately I can't make this game. However, if this is your first time, do yourself a favor when entering the stadium and come in from the south side (most of the flow of pedestrian traffic will bring you in this way) and you'll see the famous tall palm trees that tower into the sky and will give you a great photo opportunity of the Rose Bowl sign and rose on the top of the stadium. When you enter the stadium, do yourself a favor and go over to section 23 (in the southwest corner), walk to the top of the section - and then turn around. You will see an amazing mountain view that rises above and behind the stadium that makes for a fantastic photo opportunity as well. I also highly recommend a tour of the Rose Bowl. It gives you a behind the scenes look. I also highly recommend touring the UCLA campus. It's a very nice campus and will probably look somewhat familiar as it has appeared in a lot of movie and commercials. Old Town Pasadena is a vibrant place to eat and stay and its walkable to the Rose Bowl on game day. I stay in a hotel over that way and it's a nice and easy walk to the Rose Bowl from there. You'll likely walk right past the Gamble House on the way, and anyone who loves Back to the Future will recognize it as Doc Brown's house from the movie. There are a ton of things to see and do in the greater LA area, You have the beach, the mountains, and a ton of things to do and see if you chose. I'm not a huge MLB fan but I've been to Dodger Stadium a few times. The Dodgers are in town this weekend and they also offer tours of the stadium too if interested. Just a few ideas I thought I'd toss out.
GO BG!!!
