Re: Looking forward to EKU
I think we win...but won't be shocked if we don't. No interest in actually going to the game...
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Looking forward to EKU
It's Black Swamp weekend, so always a fun week to be in BG. And they're supposed to have some sort of tribute to Marta.
I'm going for those reasons, combined with the fact that it should be a nice weather day in BG.
Re: Looking forward to EKU
I'm there for tailgating and simply to watch football and see the band. I haven't been to a game in BG since the last hockey game, so just getting back in town is enough for me.
A win is a bonus.

I'll be there, my dad is struggling with Alzheimer's but seems to do better whenever he's at a sporting event. Need the maximum that time with him as much as possible. My wife is also due in a month with our second child so not sure how many games I'll be able to attend after she delivers.mbenecke wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 11:39 amI'm there for tailgating and simply to watch football and see the band. I'm glad to hear they are doing something for Marta. Tailgates going forward will certainly be different.

Oh, so when you said "a loss tomorrow and an 0-4 start is all but guaranteed," that was a hypothetical, not a prediction. I understand now.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 11:17 amI stated BG wins but EKU covers. Sorry for the degenerate language.Schadenfreude wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 11:12 amSo are you forecasting a Bowling Green win or not?jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 11:01 am A loss tomorrow and an 0-4 start is all but guaranteed IMO...
I think BG wins but EKU either covers or pushes on the +6 line.
I'll take Bowling Green and give the Colonels six. I'm not going to read too much into the UCLA final score.

I have historically never liked when we played Div I-AA/FCS teams. There's no cred gained in beating them and the games were always lopsided blowouts. It's hard for me to cheer us scoring touchdowns against teams that should have no shot at competing against a program at this level. Now I still don't like playing those teams but for a very different reason. Here we are sweating it that we could lose this game.
I would rather go back to a debate about which pizza sucks the most than talk about a depressing subject like wondering if we can bean an FCS opponent.
Speaking of depressing and pizza........I made a stop in Greenville S.C. the first week of July. Was giddy to be able to dive into a Myles pie for the first time in years. Kept calling on a weekday when they were supposed to be open and was getting no answer. I drove to the location to find a sign on the door saying they were closed due to taking an extended July 4th holiday. I wasn't able to stay in town any longer. I spent the rest of that week on suicide watch.

Half Time Pizza in Toledo is experimenting with pan style pizzas just like Chip used to make. Had one last week and it did justice to Myles.Beaker wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 12:54 pm I have historically never liked when we played Div I-AA/FCS teams. Chip never made the "pan style" pizzas did he? The default HalfTime pizza is as close to Myle's as we're ever gonna consistently get up here in NWOhio. In fact, having had carryout brought to me from the SC location a couple times I prefer HalfTime over the frozen/reheated SC stuff I've had.
They went to the PizzaPalooza thing this year, so we visited just to give him some votes. He cleaned up in the awards, and rightfully so. His pizza is in a different class than most of the other stuff that was out there.
The pan pizzas that he is working on at Halftime do look amazing though, I can't wait to sample sometime. I actually love what he's doing over there. Myle's had a tried and true formula that was amazing by the time I was old enough to eat pizza. I've loved it my whole life. Abraham @ HalfTime knows what made Myle's work (and his rendition is outstanding, IMO), but he's still finding his own way adding some of his own flare to the thing. ALthough my wife is still upset that he isn't doing the in house roasted chicken topping anymore (man it was GOOD!).

So, the Falcons will be wearing all white at home. This is not my favorite combo, but I suppose this was inevitable given the declaration of a white out.
Can anyone remember the last time Bowling Green wore white at home? This is pretty unusual, I imagine.

Stylistically....Pizza Cat in Toledo is unlike Myle's in that it's a thin crust with a lighter sauce...but it's my pizza go to right now. And if their too busy...original Gino's at Secor and Monroe

I like when the team gets on board with a theme and matches it (thinking of times that we would have an Orange Out, as Bleacher Creatures, and the hockey team would wear their orange alternates to match it), but I have to imagine it’s incredibly rare. I know we wore white for the last White Out, when Maryland came to town. I can’t think of another instance since then.Schadenfreude wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 5:20 pm So, the Falcons will be wearing all white at home. An interesting theme night would have been to organize as many food vendors as possible who specialize in pizza and have them all bring their trucks to the white out game. Staff could then stand at the exit gates and take a head count of how many people leave the stadium with pizza sauce stains on their white shirts.
They could sell raffle tickets ahead of time where fans get to put in their guess at the final pizza stained shirt tally and the winner gets season tix to any sport of their choice and all proceeds benefit the athletic department.
I would like to submit this as part of my pitch to be the new AD.

Robinson ineligible. Good move giving him the 1 reps all week.
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.
