Fire Loeffler... NOW!
All that needed to be seen happened on Saturday.
Jinks 7-25
Loeffler - 7-24
This team has no discipline on or off the field. This team has no leadership from the coaches to the more experienced players. This team has no desire to just make something happen, they are not hungry. This isn't Jinks anymore. It's all Loeffler, or "Lefty" as the players are frequently heard calling him. This one thing shows the lack of respect among the team. I had hoped the corner had turned, it hasn't. We are stuck more on catch phrases like going "to the moon" than we are about actually buckling down and doing the hard work to get there. He is so all in with McDonald that there is no walking back. Look at the 2 QB transfers, they knew what playing time would be like for them this year and moved on.
I don't give a damn about timing, or money. The amount of both we have wasted on this guy is too much, spending more to cut ties might be the best money we have spend on Scot Loeffler. It is time to move on, and President Rodgers needs to be the one to do it. And he should have done it before the press conference Saturday night. We didn't tolerate this level of quality before, why are we now?
I feel for him as a person, and I feel for his family. But this isn't personal, it's business. Expectations have not been met.
Fire Scot Loeffler, and fire him now.

Re: Fire Loeffler... NOW!
I don't see how firing Scot Loeffler immediately would help the program.
It wouldn't enable the search for a replacement to begin any sooner. We don't have an athletic director right now.
Re: Fire Loeffler... NOW!
We did that the last time with Jinks. Moosbrugger deferred to the Con Man Kit Hughes and they waited weeks to make the hire. Bowling Green got a head start to hire Scot Loeffler. A guy nobody wanted, who was a year away from being fired with Addazio at Boston College. A conference rival hired the best candidate in the market who BG could have had. The timing matters much less with the Con Man Kit Hughes no longer around. Fire him when it’s time to fire him. Now, next week, after Akron, it doesn’t matter, we know how this ends. Just like it did for Addazio at BC and Colorado St. The hiring is months away and firing him might make the AD job more attractive.

Re: Fire Loeffler... NOW!
I don't think they will wait for the new AD to fire him....thats an unpleasant thing for a new hire to do. I don't think they'll fire him until we lose a couple of conference games.
Kinda surprised that they didn't have a search firm lined up and ready to go before they canned Moose...its not like they didn't know that move was coming months in advance

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Fire Loeffler... NOW!
Lose at Akron & it’s over on Sunday, October 2nd. In addition, at that point you are through Homecoming and Family Weekend (it’s a road game). I think after October 1st is when pieces begin to fall into place. Anything sooner seems like too much work and too much of a plan for BGSU.

This is where I'm at. All that's left to play for is the East and once BG is eliminated from that it makes sense to then make your move. Losing at Akron may accelerate that a bit.Flipper wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 6:33 am I don't think they will wait for the new AD to fire him....thats an unpleasant thing for a new hire to do. Can't speak for the search firm but probably has to do with HR reasons. Job needs to be posted, et. al.
Extremely disappointing we're here. Next hire must absolutely be the right guy. Issue is this job is not attractive. Some top FCS guys may see it as a lateral move and that should worry everyone.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
Re: Fire Loeffler... NOW!
It would be the perfect ending to the Moosbrugger, Con Man Hughes, Loeffler, BGSU era…with a loss in Akron on Family Weekend back in Bowling Green. It would end just as incompetent as it started. The Con Man being the last man standing.
Re: Fire Loeffler... NOW!
I don't doubt that Loeffler is on his way out if things don't get turned around now. And nobody knows that more than Loeffler.
To me if an AD needs a search committee to find a head football or head basketball coach, that is an immediate mark against. As far as I'm concerned, in any AD interview, among the first questions should be who would be your top realistic candidates for the top revenue programs should those coaching positions open up right now. It shows the AD's knowledge of the profession, personal network, and understanding of BG's position in it all. GC always kept a short list of both football and basketball coaches. Made a great football hire, basketball not so much.
Yes the president and the board can relieve a coach. And so can an interim AD. And again nobody knows that more than Loeffler. He is sitting on a roasting hot seat right now and he is feeling it.
And lastly in this thread of unconnected thoughts. Loeffler's long time nickname is Lefty. He even refers to that sometimes in press conferences. There is no disrespect at all in calling him Lefty.

Re: Fire Loeffler... NOW!
I don't see how it would help the football program to have President Rogers fire Loeffler in midseason without a permanent athletic director in place to identify a replacement.
As best I could tell, it means the football team would need to finish the season one coach down while the university continues paying Loeffler to not do what he is under contract to do. I don't see a benefit there.
This does show the urgency of getting a good athletic director in place sooner rather than later, though.

Re: Fire Loeffler... NOW!
Conversely...what is gained by allowing him to continue beyond the time it's obvious that the season is over? A new AD won't fill the spot immediately... Can him when it becomes obvious the season is over and let the new AD hire his replacement. Besides...as hammb pointed out, the offense ran really well...as in the best it's run in his time at BG... when he wasn't on the sidelines calling plays.
Still can't believe some of you are using phrases like "if things don't get turned around".. We just lost at home to a good...not great...FCS team because the supposed strength of our team, the defense...couldn't stop them from scoring. This situation won't start to turn around until Loeffler is gone and a new coach is in place. Thank God for the xfer portal...it's a whole lot easier to remake a roster now than it was a few years ago

Have you seen the MAC East?

What does beating a few shitty Mac east teams show? He gave a time table that BG should be good in year 4, great in year 5. BG is not good.

Have you seen us? Our defense has been horrible...our QB makes the same mistakes he made when we were 0-5 in 2020

Re: Fire Loeffler... NOW!
I don’t think he has much opportunity to keep his job outside a serious run at the MAC championship but I also see it as pointless to fire him now. What’s the benefit? You need an AD in place for the new hire so they can own that hire. Many times a new AD cleans house when they enter, why does it need to be clean before arrival?

Re: Fire Loeffler... NOW!
It gives the decision makers something to think about. If the president and the board thought they'd seen enough, it's the Scott Frost treatment. They obviously want to see how the team does against the worst division in FBS.
