As for the refusal to allow entry to the parking lot until four hours before the game, and hectoring people with RVs and the like: That is really weird and unfortunate.

I remember how fun it was to tailgate out there during the Meyer, Brandon, and Clawson eras. For years, the university seemed to be encouraging tailgating because they wanted the whole scene to be fun. Tailgating, RVs and the like seem like the way college football ought to be, especially considering how far some of us have to travel to get to a game.

This is pure speculation, but I wonder if new policy is in part to reduce risk. Given the Pike tragedy last year it is not difficult to imagine that the university has had a number of conversations with its insurance carrier recently.

Curious to see how hard they enforce the four hour policy this coming weekend. Can imagine a large amount of people are going to be arriving early to tailgate for Homecoming.

Not saying they're trying to kill football here...but these are the kind of things you'd expect them to do if they were

The ticketing issue wasn't just BG. We use a national system which many larger schools use the same system was down from approximately 2:30 to a little after 4pm. Not a BGSU issue. I knew a somebody in the athletic department and walked in through the falcon club area around 2:45 and he mentioned that to me. He said not our issue, but we are going to do our best, he mentioned he was glad he wasn't at Nebraska that had 70 thousand plus and a ticket issue.

Parking at the ice has always been closed off until a certain time because there are events, lessons, practices still going during a normal Saturday. I'm sure they have events again this Saturday too, those people are paying for ice time for their child and some of them have zero ties to the university. Plus, it helps pay for the facility.

Lots that are not full that are closer that some want to park in. Become a Falcon Club member and get yourself a parking pass. Those people donate enough to be given the privilege to park closer, full or not, you can't park there unless you donate. Other schools do the same thing.

Now that you mention it...I heard UM was just letting people in after a pre game lighting delay on Saturday because there was a ticketing issue.

So...the system issue was not their fault.

The system issue on Saturday, correct.

The system issues that persist for weeks on end, though? I don’t know who else to blame.

Ugh, that sucks for the university, my apologies. Sometimes when you outsource to a vendor you're in the hands of that vendor (and don't get me wrong, outsourcing something like this IS the right way to do it). I hope that BG (and all of the other schools) have some recourse with the vendor, because if you're running ticketing for college football games you cannot drop the ball on a Saturday afternoon.

They can have a pass on that one.

The mobile ticketing site still seems to be down, and I'm still unable to access my season tickets. I get this is not BGSU's issue but I suppose an email or something to people letting them know there is a problem would be nice. Guess I'll have to call the ticket office today and figure out what's going on.

There's a reason I go to the ticket office in person every year to renew basketball tickets. The online portal claims my tickets for renewal are general admission tickets that I had 4 years ago, not the center court seats I've had the past 3 years.

Spoke with the ticket office. Said if the ticketing website is down again on Saturday to stop by one of the booths at the stadium and they'll help you out. I'm guessing you'll need to go to the west side booths to get said help based on the prior post in this thread.

I really, really hope against hope the next AD solicits feedback from alumni, season ticket holders, Falcon Club members, whomever, about the improvements that need to happen to fix a lot of this stuff. It truly is an amateur operation, and I hate speaking ill of the people who are putting in time to try and make everything go off without major problems. But the end users of the product (us) need to have input regarding our experiences and be able to provide realistic and rational ideas to help.

Every professional sporting organization I've purchased tickets from in the last handful of years sends an email asking about how the experience was, what worked, what didn't, what employees stood out, even for concerts. This is like bare minimum and BGSU can't be bothered to do it. I don't believe the university truly realizes how much this impacts the casual person from wanting to go to another game, and not just football but even basketball and hockey too.

The lack of communication from the department sucks (like the $10 parking thing, there is an option to buy parking ahead of time...is it even mentioned anywhere?). I never saw anything about changes to parking. They updated the map? Cool. Why not tell us so we don't look like idiots coming to the game.

The President and the Board want football and the like to succeed but if the department can't perform basic blocking and tackling (no pun intended) on the gameday stuff, they're never going to attract the kind of person who they want to become invested, want to donate, join the Falcon Club, etc.

It's super frustrating.

Other schools aren’t as horrible at football as BG. I can see over regulating when lots of people want to go to the game. They should be doing everything short of letting paid attendees text in play calls to get people interested in this mess.

Several alum friends and I had planned to go to this week's game. We have guys coming from every direction, arriving at different times. We always tailgate in the same area and set up very early. It sounds like they would not be accommodating our normal plans based on what's in this thread.
As others have mentioned, it's as if the university doesn't want to go to much effort to get people to come to the games and enjoy themselves. Casual fans are probably thinking that if the university doesn't really care, then why should we? Given the lack of performance from the team and the types of things mentioned here already, we have decided just to stay home. We might try to get together at Akron next month, where at least the team may have a sliver of a shot at a win and we don't have so many hoops to jump through to enjoy our day.

And if this has caused you all to not come, surely there are others turned off by this or the myriad of other issues. We’re the customers, treat us like customers.
