You are what your record says you are, lost a game last week we should have won and won a game today we should have lost. It all evens out in the end.

Football Gods balance things out. Marshall should have won. Two turnovers in the red zone was the difference. College football for you.Falco_peregrinusana wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 9:09 pm You are what your record says you are, lost a game last week we should have won and won a game today we should have lost. What a win!! I loved how the team kept fighting. Teams under other recent BG coaches would have avalanched after the first three minutes. They instead rolled up their sleeves and dominated the rest of the first half, then kept fighting from there. Great win, and it's a testament to the culture of the program to bounce back and earn such a major win.
Go BG!!

- no turnovers
- no bad snaps
- TDs and not FGs in the red zone
- no ill time penalties
- slow but not necessarily stop the run
- slow down the offense which did more damage to ND than the CJ Stroud led Buckeyes did
- no letting the Marshall offense off the hook when they're behind the chains
- block another punt
Yeah, how on earth is this betting line only 3 possessions?
No blocked punt. But everything else on this list, BG did today. BG forced 3 TOs but committed zero. Cleaner game with none of the head against wall penalties. Slowed down the run but sure didn't stop it. Forced TOs at critical times to stop the Marshall offense. And in OT after the Marshall holding call made it 1st and 20, made it count by forcing the FG. Nice win.

What a day. Loeffler keeps his job and Toledo gets beat 77-21
Re: Marshall -18 at Bowling Green
Matt McDonald has thrown 10 TD so far this year, against 0 INT.

Hilaire's 2nd TD catch was #3 this morning on Sportscenter Top 10.

It seems to me breaks went both ways. Marshall's first long touchdown was flukey. The Falcon players reasonably thought they had the Thundering Herd Person* tackled on the Marshall side of the 50, only to find out (as he dashed for the end zone) that he had been on top of another player rather than on the ground.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 9:20 pm [Marshall should have won. On the second long Marshall drive, I'm pretty sure Corey Gammage stepped out of bounds way before they called him down, but the officials did not reverse it because the video just wasn't clear enough.
Plus, we earned those fumbles to an extent. (If memory serves, J.B. Brown chopped one of those out.)
Marshall is a good football team. They might well beat Bowling Green in a rematch. But on this day, I think we earned the win.

Re: Marshall -18 at Bowling Green
No doubt the turnovers were earned. Not unforced errors. Credit to BG for bearing down defensively in those spots. The first fumble turned the game around IMO. Marshall goes up 21-0 and there's a different tune being sung today. After that BG started to slowly chip away and it kinda seemed like Marshall especially offensively began to get on their heels a bit.Schadenfreude wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 10:03 amIt seems to me breaks went both ways. Recorded the game last night and looking forward to re-watching it shortly.

Re: Marshall -18 at Bowling Green
He doesn't always have the perfect touch, but he has been good at sensing pressure and he seems to be making pretty good, safe decisions with the ball. On a couple of times yesterday, when the play wasn't there, he threw it away.
Also worth saying: I think we had all given up on this team. (In jpfalcon09's pool, I had Marshall -17 or whatever it was.) But the players on this team did not give up on each other. Thank goodness they didn't.
One more nonconference game, and then Akron. I sure hope this carries over.

Re: Marshall -18 at Bowling Green
Interesting stat this morning I saw - McDonald and DJ Irons from Akron lead college football in most consecutive pass attempts without an interception. McDonald is at 119, Irons at 95.
