What a finish in the UB-Ohio game...That'sthe first time I saw that freshman play... Needless to say, he's a monster.
we'll see if Miami or UB gets in...I doubt it, but it's possible.
Ohio COULD pull an upset, I think.

Re: Holy crap
This could be the start of a MAc "dynasty" so to speak. Has any MAC team ever won 4 MAc titles in a row. Its not likely with the parody in the MAC, but if ever there was a team....Jham wrote:What a finish in the UB-Ohio game...That'sthe first time I saw that freshman play... That "monster" had 13 pts and 7 rebounds when we played them at their place and had 0 points and 4 rebounds at our place. This is what I can't stand about the conference tournaments. A player can string together 3 good games and he's all world. My hat is off to him/Ohio..they put them in position to be on TV and to get the press. We did not...

I think Buffalo has a better shot than Miami.
Buffalo will be in a small pool with other bubble teams like Maryland, ND, UAB, Depaul, and New Mexico (if they don't beat Utah in the conference final). I think they merit inclusion. The latest Bracketology on ESPN has them in. Let's hope.

Last night's Pacific loss was bad for the MAC, too, since they are a lock for an at-large bid, according to everything I see.
ESPN has these teams battling for two slots.
--
Here are the teams we feel are still realistically alive for those final two slots (in no particular order): UAB, DePaul, Notre Dame, Maryland, Buffalo, Miami (OH), Northern Iowa, Wichita State, Saint Joseph's (the last two being longer shots than the others).
--
Any bets on any two of DePaul, Notre Dame, and Maryland getting those slots?

I wouldn't bet you, since the committee loves mediocre teams from the "power conferences", but I think Buffalo and maybe No. Iowa should go. UAB has to get the nod over Depaul since they beat them.
Also, they have St. Mary's as a lock, but they aren't as deserving as Buffalo, No. Iowa, ND, Maryland, or UAB.

On Leon Williams' games versus BG, I saw both. He played decently at Athens though not spectacularly. In BG, the there was a big reason he had a zero. Our freshman Vandermeer just totally and completely outplayed him. Good things to come from Vandermeer. But will we have enough scoring options? I hope so.
Good luck to Ohio; I wish them the best. But O'shea's postgame comments after Miami were way over the top. This guy's comments often are misplaced. The good news is he has recruited very well. Fears and Williams are fine ball players (as well as late qualifiers by the way- good luck to them) amd when they needed a scorer they went to California and got one in JC Green. Add in a good one in Sonny Troutman from the previous year and you can afford some intemperate remarks.
Like calling your student body fans "morons" on your postagme radio show after the last home game. Their sin? Asking for senior James Bridgewater to enter the game in the closing seconds. Yes, Coach O, you wouldn't want those dumb students to cheer for a senior in that last one.
But I will cheer for Ohio in the NCAA as I do every MAC school.
I believe Maryland is out. I believe DePaul is out. I believe the last two teams in the NCAA field will be UAB and the..........Buffalo Bulls.
Go Falcon women! Go Falcons!

I'm borrowing from MossMaldi's work on the MAC board. Everything that follows is from him except for the last sentence, beloworangeandbrown wrote:Last night's Pacific loss was bad for the MAC, too, since they are a lock for an at-large bid, according to everything I see.

I won't identify the teams. But I can say this: One team jumps out at me a bit -- and that makes me a bit more optimistic about the MAC's chances for a second bid.
