Coordination and Planning are 2 things that have been missing from the Athletics Dept for a VERY long time.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 8:15 amIt is mind numbing to me. I was a sport management major during my time there and it seems like they did a much better job of that back in the 2000s.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 8:15 amIt is mind numbing to me. More difficult than you think. BG has a pretty piss poor reputation amongst athletic professionals. Incompetent hires and mismanagement of resources will do that. Firing your previous AD who was an alumnus and recently got an extension will also probably give some qualified candidates pause as to whether or not it's a place they want to be. Some P5 schools are paying more for Deputy AD roles than G5 schools are for the main AD role too. Which would you rather have? How hard can it be to clean house, find quality replacements, redefine the mission and philosophy of the Department and for once create the impression that the people in the Department give a crap about something other than the resume they're polishing?

That’s why you build the process/machine from within for all of the things that will remain the same regime to regime: game days, concessions, home coming, parents weekend… across all sports. The AD and others can come and go…. The “little things” would always be covered. It might actually attract some talent, as they would not have a monumental task at arrival. Well, that’s what I would do at least…..jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 9:41 amMore difficult than you think. BG has a pretty piss poor reputation amongst athletic professionals. Certainly. Any good management system is built to withstand change. The faces will come and go but the core of the program will not be impacted. BGSU is lightyears away from that, and that improvement is going to take years. They better be willing to pay a fair salary for the amount of work that needs to be completed from an administration viewpoint alone.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 9:49 amThat’s why you build the process/machine from within for all of the things that will remain the same regime to regime: game days, concessions, home coming, parents weekend… across all sports. I was being a bit facetious there...it's going to be very hard to clean out the rot and create a culture that's more responsive to the paying customers . That's never been the mind set of the department during my decades of attending BGSU football and basketball gamesjpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 9:41 amMore difficult than you think. It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I'm about 5-7 years away from being qualified to be an AD, so if everyone can just sit tight until 2029, I'll come in with my orange and brown cape.Flipper wrote: ↑Thu Sep 29, 2022 9:32 amI was being a bit facetious there...it's going to be very hard to clean out the rot and create a culture that's more responsive to the paying customers . Thankfully, President Rogers is committed to competing at the highest levels athletically, so this isn't going to happen.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 3:25 pm 1. How do you fold a football team and funnel the money into hockey and basketball

If we are going to talk about eliminating sports, I have ideas. But perhaps it would be best to not go down that road.

Then President Rogers isn't really committed to competing at the highest levels athletically.Schadenfreude wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 6:02 pmThankfully, President Rogers is committed to competing at the highest levels athletically, so this isn't going to happen.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 3:25 pm 1. Re: New Athletic Director Priorities
He might be committed. However, he hired a search firm to hire a football coach, then allowed Con Man Kit Hughes to hire a football coach. Words are words.
Re: New Athletic Director Priorities
Exactly this. The amount of resources it takes to field a competitive team today is much different than it was twenty years ago. Those days are long gone in the sport.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 3:25 pm 1. How do you fold a football team and funnel the money into hockey and basketball

Re: New Athletic Director Priorities
Rodney Rogers is so committed to football, he will be attending a Family Weekend Volleyball tailgate today while the football team plays Akron. Incompetence meets no standards.
