My first impression too. Tonight's offense was worth about 2 weeks of last season's offense.

I'm cautiously optimistic by it. The offense started pretty good last season, then started to struggle.

I like the strategy of trying to challenge the cross-checking call in front of the net. 99% sure he knew it wasn't reviewable, but it's a subtle way of telling them he didn't agree. Hopefully, they watch it today and are embarrassed they made that call. I was actually surprised when I checked after the game and powerplays were 2-5. The way the third was called, I thought for sure they were evened up.

First game of the season so don't want to get too ahead of ourselves. Both teams were pretty careless at times in their own defensive ends, to be expected for the opener. I expect a tighter game this evening.

Untimely penalty. The entire box moved to the strong side. Easy weak side goal. Grrrrr.

Early BG penalty leads to an early NMU goal. We defended pretty well for about 90 seconds, but failure to clear the puck was the difference.

BG power play did next to nothing. Feels like this is going to be one of those weekends where the team is just happy to win one. The effort is simply not there this evening.
