Watching Kent vs Miami on ESPN+. Miami is going to hurt us...badly
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I'm tired of the volatility from week to week. Today was 2019 and 2020 all over again. Coach says in his postgame he doesn't have an answer to fix it. A loss next week and I think the conversation needs to be have about when it's time to pull the trigger.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this coach isn’t gone by Monday. There is no way he makes it the entire season.

Just going off the past, Jinks was fired after Week 7 (1-6 record). Highly doubt anything happens this week.

Re: Buffalo Game Day
Completely. I wasn't even sure if that play was legal. There's a special rule allowing you to have a knee down for a fg hold, does that apply for a fake as well, I presume?jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 08, 2022 12:50 pmMoronic coach trying to outsmart everyone down three scores.
Just go for it if you're going to do something stupid like that.
To be clear I have zero issue going for it there. I despise kicking inside the 5 (would NEVER do it), and really no issue going for it anywhere from 5-10 either, especially down 17 already, a fg felt somewhat pointless. But what the hell could've possibly gone into thinking THAT was the way to get the 6? It feels like it has no more likelihood of scoring while upping the "major fuckup" percentage 10fold. This is especially true inside the 10 yd line where a good part of the math that says "go for it" is predicated on pinning the other team really deep even if you fail.
Nothing about that play made a lick of sense.
Re: Buffalo Game Day
True. He probably makes it a couple more weeks or maybe until an AD is in place? There is no way you can keep him though. He should have been gone last year with that offensive line he put on the field but I completely understand why we had to give him another year. Experiment is over now.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 08, 2022 4:20 pmJust going off the past, Jinks was fired after Week 7 (1-6 record). Highly doubt anything happens this week.
Re: Buffalo Game Day
Firing a couch mid season rarely moves the needle much. Given our lack of funds I'd probably let him coach out the string in the hopes he realizes he in over his head enough to step down for a lesser buyout

We had an athletic director when Jinks was let go. That's not the case right now. Until we have an athletic director in place, I wouldn't expect anyone to give Loeffler a hard push.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 08, 2022 4:20 pmJust going off the past, Jinks was fired after Week 7 (1-6 record). Loeffler really seemed defeated in his post-game comments. He seemed out of answers.
But unless Loeffler decides his heart isn't in this anymore, I imagine we will stay this course until we have a new athletic director.

I see it the opposite. No reason for a new AD to have their first official big move letting someone go. Rogers can do that and name an interim until the end of the year. Then AD gets to make his/her hire.Schadenfreude wrote: ↑Sat Oct 08, 2022 4:45 pmWe had an athletic director when Jinks was let go. That's not the case right now. I've been saying this for 5 years. Brighter days ahead. Bob Moosbrugger gone. Con Man Kit Hughes gone.

Yeah, we don't agree on this. It seems to me it would be really bad form for a university president to fire a football coach for football-related reasons. (Much as I wouldn't want an athletic director making academic decisions.)jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 08, 2022 4:49 pm I see it the opposite. I also don't see the benefit of sparing a new AD from making the decision. If the new AD doesn't have the courage (or whatever) to do it, we probably shouldn't be hiring that person anyway, right?

Respect your view on the matter. My opinion rests in that the AD will probably not be installed until sometime in November. Entirely possible it plays out exactly as you see.Schadenfreude wrote: ↑Sat Oct 08, 2022 5:12 pmYeah, we don't agree on this. I don’t see any point of keeping this loser around. He has failed and needs to be gone.

Re: Buffalo Game Day
Neither situation is ideal...its a lot to ask of a new hire to fire someone pretty much on day one...it's a lot to ask him/her to make a high profile hire on day one. I think the better option is to dump Loeffler now and let a search bcommittee do the leg work..gonna do that anyway...and then let the new AD vet the suggested candidates...with an allowance the new hire to make a case for their own candidate.
Ideally...Moose would have been let go a year ago. It's not like his incompetence wasn't already apparent., Then we'd already have someone in place who could pull the trigger in November...or sooner
