This is the first time EVER that NOBODY has a report on the public scrimmage.

With all these reports of people renewing season tickets, I'd fully expect Huger's agent to be trying to heist another contract extension from BGSU. He needs to act quick before the preseason poll is released.

I have no plans to get to a game this year. My wife being pregnant and our son being due in January naturally complicates things, but my interest level in making the drive over, paying to park, and watching us lose just to drive home afterwards is low. I just want this team to be competitive and to fight hard every night.

I love going to the games, and I hope to bring my son often when the time comes. But right now, there’s just no interest or motivation to get to the Stroh on my part.

Its insane to me that no one has reported on this.

This would often be my favorite time of the year. We have 7 new players who played. We know nothing about them. No media covered it. Not even a student for the newspaper.

Why wouldn't the athletic department just send some intern to write about player strengths and get fans excited.

What is this?

This is an athletic department that doesn't have an AD, and when they did have an AD he didn't do his job. I imagine you currently have an Athletic Department where every reasonably high ranking person is making sure to dust off the resume.

You have a head basketball coach who is completely in over his head trying to coach the team and playing rah rah to rally support has never been something he was comfortable with.

You have a team that has absolutely no easy ways to figure out being excited for the upcoming season.

Realistically, this current Athletic Department isn't going to do anything but go through the motions. Hell easy to argue all they've EVER done is just go through the motions. But the season is going to happen so just as easy to say the sports reporters for the Sentinel/Blade are also not doing their job to cover the scrimmage, but honestly I don't recall ever getting much coverage of the scrimmages. Historically I've attended them if they were not in conflict with a Browns game, but this year's was in conflict with that AND my soccer team, so I didn't go.

THIS is BGSU Athletics. We don't have enough of a following to justify coverage from for-profit entities, at least not when we suck. It's kind of perplexing to me that the BGNews hasn't run a hoops article since MAC tournament time, but here we are. Since for-profit entities aren't going to go out of their way to cover our teams I think the Coach and Sports Information people need to be going out of their way to get coverage. If Huger called the Blade and gave them an interview, I bet they'd run the story. If the Sports Information people pestered the Sentinel until they sent somebody out for a fluff piece, I bet they'd run the fluff piece.

But THIS is BGSU Athletics. Nobody, most of all not the folks making 6 figure salaries, gives a s**t. Not enough to go anywhere above and beyond doing the bare minimum of their jobs. It's why we get zero coverage. It's why our teams mostly suck in any sports people pay attention to. It's why gameday experiences are largely shitty. THIS is BGSU athletics...

This is BGSU Athletics. Where administrators are hired based on a resume of fundraising, then cry no funds when actually employed. Then, those same administrators sign for themselves, and give Covid contract extensions. Contract extensions that are specifically held from the media at a school that loves to feed the media contract extensions to make themselves look good. This is BGSU Athletics. The athletic department that had it's two highest in rank, spend an entire day trying to convince Jordan Strack not to run a NIL story for a BGSU athlete. Then 16 months later brags about a NIL platform that allows them access and very likely a cut. This is BGSU Athletics

hen they interview a "fundraising candidate" do they ask for proof of achievement. Like...can yo cite an example where you initiated contact with a corporate or private individual and took that relationship from the initial contact to the actual donation.

I've built more than one sales territory from the ground up and I can assure you, it is MUCH more difficult to market a product or service that isn't established than on that is. Needless to say...we aren't established right now so we need to find someone that knows how to put on the boots and get out there hunting
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
