Weird win...will take it as I expected a loss. I was wrong about our QB...Matt McDonald has been as good as any QB in the MAC that I've seen this year and our WR's are outstanding.
The penalties are going to bite us in the ass if we aren't careful.
We're at 4-4...I we finish at 6-6 it will be very hard for the new AD to move on from Loeffler...and honestly...I think he would deserve a chance to build on a .500 season, particularly given the way the year started.
Glad we didn't hire McElwain....he made some seriously poor decisions in game
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
We go 6-6 and Loeffler has earned the right to stay. I’ve followed BG since 1985 and he took over the program at its very worst in those 37 years. McDonald has been beaten up on this board too, he’s gutted out his time here and this season is shaping up to be another good step forward.

I agree. He really cares about his players, too. It comes through. In his postgame interview, he was raving about one guy, and then another, and then another, praising them for how hard they've worked. Apparently, a local police officer told him that this year's Falcons were the most nice, polite visting team she had ever been around, and he started talking about that, too.
This is a tough business. At the end of the day, the scoreboard matters. But that kind of thing is really nice to see.

Important the program graduates young men who will have a positive impact on society, regardless of what happens on the field.
WMU hung on to beat Miami 16-10. Broncos started a true frosh at QB but their defense played well. They'll be coming in on the Nov. 2 riding a bit of a high.
East is shaping up to come down between Buffalo and Ohio but we've seen weird things happen before.

This year has been a pleasant improvement. Also seeing the success of UCLA and Mississippi State makes me feel better about the non conference performance. I think the big thing for us is just to become more consistent, the Buffalo game was brutal to watch yet this was a hell of a win
Sami Sir named MAC Special Teams POTW - three punts downed inside the 10 yard line and a nice hanger which resulted in a muff and eventual CMU turnover.

As hard as it is for me to believe this, the team seems to be improving in every area....except 1.
This team will not compete against better MAC schools if they don't get the penalties under control. BG leads the MAC in penalty yards overall and in conference play. In the MAC, they averages 102 yards and game..... nearly 50% more than the league average! I'm hoping Saturday's 17 was the season outlier. If not, we're doomed.

Need to clean up the procedural penalties for sure - two offsides on kicks, several false starts, plus the face masks. Things like PI, holding, even some of the other personal foul calls are subjective. I'd like to view it as the team playing with emotion and perhaps getting a bit too amped up in some cases. Certainly will take that over a lack of effort.
