Re: AD Search
AD announcement tomorrow at 10:30 am according to Blade and BCSN.
Re: AD Search
This morning at 10:30, there will be a press conference with President Rogers and the new athletic director from the Stroh Center. I would imagine there will be a link to watch live somewhere.Tricky_Falcon wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 11:03 pm AD announcement tomorrow at 10:30 am according to Blade and BCSN.

Re: AD Search
Nice birthday present for me.
Kudos to the university and CSA on basically zero leaks during this process. Professionally done.

Re: AD Search
I do find it odd that there's nothing mentioned about the introduction on the BG website or social media.

Re: AD Search
They clearly decided to give this first to media, which is understandable.Tricky_Falcon wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 8:22 am I do find it odd that there's nothing mentioned about the introduction on the BG website or social media.
I would think a video feed will be soon be made available. Perhaps social media will announce that at 9 or 10. I guess we'll see.
Re: AD Search
Yeah, the press release you can see floating around on social media was sent to the media to let them know they should gather for the press conference this morning. I also would imagine there will be some link to the presser that surfaces at some point.Schadenfreude wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 8:48 amThey clearly decided to give this first to media, which is understandable.Tricky_Falcon wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 8:22 am I do find it odd that there's nothing mentioned about the introduction on the BG website or social media.

Would be on brand for BGSU to hire a search firm and waste resources only to promote from within.

Re: AD Search
Here’s hoping the NEW AD cleans house of the dead weight in the department. Most have been hired by three horrible AD s, and some have just been here too long. Some qualify in BOTH categories!

He was a member of the CMU “Fat Punter” team…I already don’t like him! Just kidding, I wish him nothing but the best and hope he can do great things here!mbenecke wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 9:35 am It's Derek van der Merwe, from Arizona.

Re: AD Search
From a quick skim of his bio at Arizona, it seems like he is a really good fundraiser, and he has like 25 years of experience in athletic administration at Central Michigan, Austin Peay, and then Arizona.
Played football at CMU from 1991-1995, and then worked there until 2013, so he definitely (or at least should) understands the MAC.
Also, the fact that he was born and raised in South Africa is really interesting.
