vs. Michigan Tech (11/4-11/5)
vs. Michigan Tech (11/4-11/5)
On Friday, November 4, our Falcons (2-6-0) return home to take on the Michigan Tech Huskies (4-2-1) in a pair of must-win games. Both games will begin at 7:07pm, and will be available to stream on FloHockey.
We enter this game following an interesting weekend where we stole a point on Friday night and competed all weekend long against what is the best program in the league, but it still resulted in 2 tough losses nonetheless. We were 1-1-0 against this Tech team last season, and this will be their first trip to The Slate since January of 2021, when we swept them.
There has been a fair amount of resentment and animosity brewing between these teams (and the respective fanbases) in the past decade or so, and they feel like the closest thing to a modern rival for us, so I’m very excited to see our compete-level in this series. We have our backs against the wall, and it’s time to dig ourselves out of the hole to begin our trek forward. Should be a fun weekend.
Go Falcons! Beat Tech!

At this point all that matters is winning as many conference games as possible for playoff seeding. Obviously BG is not going to threaten in the PWR. Pivot weekend for sure. Get a sweep and things are looking more manageable with St. Thomas and Ferris State coming up. Get swept and there's high potential for the wheels to come off.

It's a Falcon Hockey gameday in Bowling Green, OH.
Crucial that we get points out of this weekend. Would love to start with a win tonight - I'll be in the building for this one.
Not so fun fact - we've lost 7 in a row with me in attendance, so I am changing what I wear and where I sit for this one. Too much bad mojo on that streak to let it continue.

Michigan Tech (-130) at Bowling Green (+100); o/u 5.5
Neither of these teams have performed lights out to this point, but Michigan Tech’s defense and goaltending continues to shine.
If you’re looking for one differentiator this weekend into series, it’s the back end. Bowling Green has allowed 30 goals to Michigan Tech’s 11. A line of -130 might not feel like value, but on the road, grab anything that is close to even, even if you feel like Tech might be such a heavy favorite.
If there is a caution against Bowling Green is that this team always seems to get up for rivalry games, and MTU is considered that. Road motivation is dangerous.

First question in the coaches talk was about coasting to a loose puck in our d-zone last weekend (BG84, was that you?). Stavs answer was were hurt, can’t compete hard in practice and that’s showing up in the game. Um…yeah…
Rose may dress tomorrow. Pfoh and Parker are still out for a while. Every player that’s healthy is dressing tonight.

So yeah. We’re killing it on faceoff draws. Still can’t break out cleanly. We’ll play the balance of the game with only 5 d-man due to a blatant face wash major. We’re getting some SOGs though. Down 1-0.

Lack of discipline is a hallmark of Eigner's teams.

Sustained pressure leads to a Malmstrom goal, all tied up.

2-2 on a Malmstrom shorty resulting from some hard work by Wozny behind the next.

Refs ignore 6 Tech skaters. Then they camp a guy out front with none of our defensemen in the area. He pops his own rebound in. Sigh.

Effort was there tonight at least.

If checking a player that hasn't played the puck is a major, they missed a lot of major penalty calls.

Re: vs. Michigan Tech (11/4-11/5)
Their third goal was straight out of last year’s defensive playbook. Guy standing in front of our net unmolested whacking at it until it goes in.
At least we had shots, o-zone time, and chances.
Tech fans are an obnoxious lot.
