2022-23 Season

Post by BillyLP »

Kicking things off this afternoon at St. Bonaventure. BG returns a ton of their talent, most notably Lexi Fleming who missed the entire season last year. They still lack in size, but did get two 6'1" transfers (one from Loyola Chi. and one from D-3 Anderson University). This is a big test season for Fralick, in my opinion. This feels like a season she needs to finish top 2 or 3 in the MAC and make a serious run at the NCAAs.

St. Bonaventure is not great, so it should be a good measuring stick to start the season. They were near the bottom of the A-10 last year, which I think is a weaker league than the MAC in women's basketball. They are coached by familiar face, Jesse Fleming. He served as Associate Head Coach for Roos for a few years here.

Tip is at 4:30pm and it's on ESPN+. Go Falcons!

My initial gut feeling is that this will be a really good BG team, as long as they stay healthy.

Looking forward to following their season!

Starters were Hampton, Brett, Sharps, Tate and Day. Fleming came in a few minutes in and looks rusty. Hempfling came in midway 2nd quarter. Deep team. They are playing hard but not shooting well. They are applying a lot of pressure and are hitting the offensive boards. Up 37-31 at the half. Brett with 15. Sharps 7 and Hampton 6 and 5 steals.

Brett has been the best player on the floor tonight. Surprised how little Lexi and Hempfling have played. Makes sense for Lexi coming back from injury, I suppose, but Hempfling has been one of the mainstays for years now.

Brett and newcomer Allison Day carry the Falcons to a 77-61 win on a day where pretty much everyone else had an off day. If they made even half their lay-ups and converted on second and third chances, they would have won by 35. Good start. 1-0!

The Falcons didn't shoot well, but they were about +16! in turnovers.

I didn't suck it up and pay the $9.95 a month for ESPN+ yet...

Kadie Hempling had a wrap on her upper leg. She may be fighting an injury. Lexi Fleming looks to be working her way back. She took several hard falls during the game and shook off each one.

I was trying to see if Hempfling had some kind of brace or wrap on, but didn't catch that. Thanks for pointing it out.

The athletic department announced today that general admission tickets to ALL home regular season sporting events for the rest of the school year are just $10 until Monday night at 11:59pm. There’s no fees and no code needed, so if you’re planning to get GA tickets to any event the rest of the year, now would be a great time to do it!

I snagged $10 tickets for the Ohio State hockey game next month that would’ve otherwise cost me $22 for the ticket with a $2 fee.

Awesome deal!

Good thing you help get word out for the A Department.
Thanks for the tip. :partyman:

Ha! I only know because I saw it on Instagram. Figured not everyone around these parts would see it there, so I wanted to put it in all of the relevant forums so folks would see it.

Games are more fun when the stands are full!

Has anyone else noticed that we are now through 5 games of this season and the BGSUfalcons website has not posted one stat either cumulative or by game. Seems odd since the shabbily run Men's team is up to date.

Just printed out our Tix for Feb 25 “doubleheader “ with men’s team. We like to do this on a selected weekend each season as a way to stay connected . Opposition includes Buffalo and Kent that day.

I hadn't even noticed because they are always in the PDF notes attached to the preview story before each game. I just went to the stats page, & it looks like they are updated there now, as well.
