This assumption would be correct.

I didn't have an inkling of this until yesterday. I would love details, but sometimes these things take time to unfold.

Wade's very well connected with the university. His son used to play at UB and transferred to GASO this past offseason.

We've missed on two straight football HC hires...can't afford a third.

This is a little like Blackney's last season...frustrating to watch because there's some talented, hard working players, but they aren't being given a chance because the coach isn't capable of leading them. The right HC could get this turned around quickly.

I actually think a competent Xs & Os offensive coach would be scoring points with this group as currently constructed. That may not be the case next year going to a lesser experienced QB, but McDonald is not total garbage. He's limited, but he's playable.

The plan we attempt to run on that side of the ball is like willingly playing football with your ankles tied together. It's asinine.

The next head coach MUST be someone who has been a head coach before. Period. Whether that's a lower division guy on the way up, or a qualified and hungry P5 guy (who proved himself at the G5 level prior) needing a second chance. Our last two head coaches both had ZERO head coaching experience and it has shown - miserably - and we've been dealt with not one but two multiple-year disaster stretches under each of them in Jinks and Loeffer. Our two previous coaches (Clawson and Babers) were BOTH head coaches before coming here and the results were very different. BG has already pulled the magic rabbit from the hat with the no head coaching experience hire with Urban Meyer. We got lucky and it worked out. But the last two we've tried going that route have blown up in our face, and have now set us a decade behind into the abyss. BG cannot afford to hire another guy who hasn't been a head coach before. We cannot afford to pay another coach millions of dollars and serve as a wishful thinking training academy with hopes of transforming another zero head coaching experience guy into a qualified coach. BG must...MUST...hire a guy who knows what the hell it takes and what the hell he's doing. We have lost too much time and too much money going the route we have with the last two flops.

He sure is...and this looks really bad. When there is no accountability for breaking rules or looking the other way, you have major problems.

Is this based on you own independent knowledge or just what Mr Vantrease talked about? Curious to know?

The list of finalists for the WMU and Kent State Jobs is interesting

WMU
Hired-Lance Taylor, Louisville OC
Finalists:
Mike Hart-Michigan RBs coach
Gino Guidugli-Former Cincy OC, Now available
Graham Harrell-Former WV OC, Now Purdue OC

Kent St
Hired-Kenni Burns, Minnesota RBs coach
Finalists:
Gino Guidugli-Former Cincy OC, Now available
Andrew Sowder-Former Kent St OC, Now available

Gino didn't get either job but at least 2 players lobbied for him to be the new coach at UC.
Mike Hart would be an interesting choice for us.

The other guy who seems interesting would be former Miami of Ohio RB and Notre Dame RBs coach Deland McCullough

I’m extremely interested in bringing Sowder in, in some capacity.

Either he comes in as OC and helps to modernize the offensive scheme, or he develops WRs or QBs, or something. Simply getting him in the building would be huge for the offense.

I don’t think we can go from our current scheme to a #FalconFast look in one year, but moving in that direction would be a huge step forward.

Especially because Orth looks like he has the mobility to implement some RPO looks.

We need to bring in Stud to coach the OL. The current coach just isn't getting it done

Too much hubris from Scot to admit his system doesn't work. Agree with Flip that an RPO/zone read game much like they ran with Loy would be good with Orth, if he ends up getting the starting job, but the core of the scheme isn't going anywhere. I have my doubts though that any QB on the current roster is good enough to run the offense, and that's a major indictment on the staff.

As for the OL, a new coach might help, but when you're plucking guys from the FCS level and expecting them to compete every week against FBS talent, it's a big ask.
