I see this going one of two ways, like others have said. I can see BG grinding out a close win, or I can see Toledo putting up 50 and winning by 40. I don’t see Toledo winning close.

If BG does win, it’s crazy to think they have a shot at the MAC East (if Buffalo loses again).

Either way, I decided the day the schedule came out not to attend this game. If UT & BG want to play in an empty stadium, I’m happy to help them achieve that.

I graduated in 2001 and have rarely missed this game since becoming a student (1997, 1999, 2014, 2016, and tomorrow night), but I’m tired of the weeknight BS.

This game belongs on Saturday!!

If it is legit it's honestly not surprising given it's Gen Z. They do things a different way.
I heard stories of a different sport in the 70s and 80s meeting the opposing team at a bar after Friday night's game. Couple times the coach would "check" for players going out, but send the equipment manager in first. Only thing new is advertising it for the public.

So hasn’t heard of a party. Which means no one that matters is involved. Disturbing part was saying it doesn’t surprise him…. The party is likely two or three knuckleheads and a call for shots fired at a Toledo Rally’s at 3AM. Whatever happens tonight is not the result of “the team” worried about a keg and pizza party.

I agree that it's ridiculous, but it's absolutely true that there is a party.

Good to hear that it's not actually a team-wide thing, though. I thought that idea was a ridiculously bad look.

Disappointing the coaches and player leadership group would even allow such a thing, knowing that the chance for something stupid to happen is probably pretty high. I get there might be some players who have high school buddies on UT's roster, but there's plenty of time after the football season to party and yuk it up. This is the one game every season that the entire football team needs to be locked in and pulling in the same direction.

From a player standpoint, you can’t fix stupid or consternate over a few morons. You try to pull from the top, not push from the bottom. Team is ready.

I hope they're ready. I want nothing more than to win our first game up there since 2008.

From the Scud board, sounds like Gleason is starting tonight for the Rockets. That should help play into BG's hands a little bit.

Gleason is a talented kid (GT recruit initially). He may not be as mobile as Finn, but he has good size and a decent arm. If we can't pressure him...it could get ugly

Gleason looked decent in his start and game vs EMU. He made a huge pass when it counted most on 4th down at the end of the game to set up the game-winning score. He's actually a decent runner too. Finn was clearly playing hurt in the Ball State game, he was limping around and favoring what looked like an ankle injury. He came into the game after missing the previous game with a shoulder injury. But he's clearly not the same QB right now that he was prior to getting hurt at Buffalo. Gleason also has a pretty solid build for a QB too, he kind of reminds me Grant Loy with his mobility if needed but with a much better arm.

The last time I felt good, like optimistically good, about BG beating Toledo was back in 2015. We were at home as a 7-point favorite (hard to even fathom nowadays) and we came out and simply got our doors blown the hell off by Toledo. It was as bad as any matchup I can remember in recent history. UT had us down 30-7 midway through the second quarter. It was awful. We lost 44-28 but it wasn't as close as the score indicated, although we did battle back with effort in a losing cause. And that was the year we actually won another MAC Championship while also beating Maryland and Purdue that season and we had some great players. We dodged a bullet not having to face Toledo again in Detroit, although I would have liked to have had another shot at them after that mess. Still, I felt as good as any recent matchup vs Toledo then and I was really, really wrong. The only hope I really have is what I mentioned in another thread, that is, UT has already locked up going to Detroit and a bowl. Having a backup QB play would be another plus. Still, it's Toledo, and I just come to expect a loss until we show we can actually start to beat them again consistently. Which has been a long, long time ago...
GO BG!!!
