It is not my intention to do away with government. It is rather to make it work - work with us, not over us; stand by our side, not ride on our back. Government can and must provide opportunity, not smother it; foster productivity, not stifle it. ~Ronald Reagan

Well, if thats the case, it is illegal to sell stolen property, so...UK Peregrine wrote:I believe selling a playbook is perfectly legal, however the means to obtain them usually is not legal.Bleeding Orange wrote:Ummmm....is this legal?

However, he's not selling the actual playbook, he's selling a PDF version of the playbook, an electronic copy. So it's really more a matter of intellectual property than stolen goods. Hence, the legal question has more to do with the intellectual property protection offered to such items.SaxyIrishTenor wrote:Well, if thats the case, it is illegal to sell stolen property, so...UK Peregrine wrote:I believe selling a playbook is perfectly legal, however the means to obtain them usually is not legal.Bleeding Orange wrote:Ummmm....is this legal?
And I don't think I'd be going out on too far of a limb to say that Urban likely never copyrighted that playbook1987alum wrote:However, he's not selling the actual playbook, he's selling a PDF version of the playbook, an electronic copy. I googled his email address and found some info on another forum about the seller:

from here:I am currently a student coach at a high school. I did however coach youth football for three years in an inner city program. Being that I did coach inner city kids I did not meet more than 3 player's parents. The question I have is... This year I took around 60 pictures taken throughout our season and scaned and placed them to a powerpoint program as slides. I then created a timed slide show and organized music selections to this video. I then copy the presentation over to a VHS format and dub in the audio. The finished product is a video yearbook for your football team. I made these up this year and sold them to my players. I know that every year photographers offer bundles of packets for team pictures and parent eat them up. If something like this was offered in your area do you feel the parents of a little league team would be interested in purchasing one for $10? I am trying to get feedback before I offer it to our rec leagues here in town for the baseball and next years football. I also did a highlight tape add in. I did cut-ups of the season on video and added it in. I will also after the first of the year be able to place these yearbooks on DVD. They will sell for a little more because of the high price of DVD-R disks. Please reply with your imput. Thank you."

Yeah, I don't think it would be undercopy right or Trade secrets laws. If so it would be yanked by the U's lawyers that heads would spin. Examply MAC is cracking down on some internet "journalists" for publishing material illegally obtained, and getting court approval to do so. My fraternity quickly had interet sites with our ritual posted yanked almost immediatly of it going up, on the grounds of trade secrets. So if it was really a big deal, it would be gone.

"This presentation was assembled after hours of breaking down game film and installation tapes from games of Urban Meyer's Offense both when he was at Bowling Green and at Utah from the years 2002-2004."
Definitely making the PDF files himself as well. Are we all believe what we see on the internet again folks?
