Brent Key to GA Tech.

UAB hired Trent Dilfer, former Super Bowl-winning QB with the Baltimore Ravens, to be their next HC.

Seems like a really interesting hire. Born in California, went to school at Fresno State, never been a coach at the college level before. He’s in his 4th season as HC at a high school in Tennessee and they’re playing in the state title game this week, but as we saw with Jinks… that doesn’t always translate to the college level.

Fascinating to see how this turns out.

Yeah maybe I have PTSD from Jinks but I can’t imagine this hire works out well.

If the UAB athletic director resigns and takes a job outside of college athletics before next season kicks off, I guess we can take that as a bad sign of things to come.

Jinks was hamstrung by a lack of connections in the collegiate ranks in general and the Midwest in particular and he didn't have the transfer portal. If Dilfer can get the right people around him...his name recognition could be a magnet for players in the Xfer portal

Dilfer knows the game, particularly the offensive side of the ball. He has ton of connections to high schools all over the country because of Elite 11 QB camps and coaching a top level high school. For a school like UAB I think it’s a good hire.
He’ll need a solid coaching staff around him and he may struggle with some of the administrative side of things initially, but he’s going to be good at the on field coaching. I’m not saying he’s going to dominate or anything, but I bet they’ll be consistently above .500.
