I've noticed that, too, but frankly, the FCS transfers in seem to make a bigger impact so far.

I don't have an issue with the transfer portal. With the new rules, they can only go this route once without sitting out a year. Most players don't want to have to sit out a year before playing, which is why they are (hopefully) thinking clearly about whether to transfer and use that one-time "get out of jail free" card.

Given coaching turnover, I think allowing players a one-time transfer without sitting out a year -- is a decent trade-off.

The exception being a grad transfer. A player can transfer once as an undergraduate without penalty and do so again as a graduate student also without penalty. Given they have a fifth year of eligibility.

Things will start to ease a bit as the remaining covid year guys are rotated out of enrollments in the next couple years.
