2022 Bowl Game

GO BG!!!
Re: 2022 Bowl Game
I’m just hoping for a win, period. The previous 6 seasons have been so dreadful that I would gladly take a bowl win against anyone this year. I agree that it “could” be a winnable game, but I also know we can win or lose to anyone of our caliber. At midsession, I wouldn’t have put a lot of stock into the Aggies. But they have won 5 of their last 6 and blasted Liberty 49-14 in Lynchburg as a +24 dog two weeks ago! That’s the same Liberty team that was ranked this year and has beaten BYU, Arkansas in Fayetteville and lost to both Wake Forest and Virginia Tech on the road by 1. Either way this is going to be a struggle for us. Either NMSU will continue its hot streak or BG will plod along to the final whistle.

Fwiw, didn’t Liberty get BLITZED again recently? Coach left… for another job…?

Yes, but they've already hired Coastal Carolina's head coach to replace him.Class of 61 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 11:30 pm Fwiw, didn’t Liberty get BLITZED again recently? Coach left… for another job…?

Re: 2022 Bowl Game
Sadly, it looks like BG is opening as a 1.5 point underdog. That's pretty sad as NMSU has only 4 FBS wins (granted one of them was huge), is traveling 3/4 of the way across the country, is still conference-less, and is playing in just their second bowl game in over 60 years. Obviously points spreads mean nothing in terms of who will win, but it's a sad state of affairs to see this is what Vegas views BG in this matchup.

Re: 2022 Bowl Game
New Mexico State also run an RPO offense led by a dual threat QB, which are exactly the kind of offenses that give us fits. Dual threat guys have shreaded us over the years and have again this year. We have 3 weeks to try and prepare for it, but I have doubts it will even be enough or matter. If we had the ability to defend that type of offense and threat, we could have been East Champs. Ohio's 3rd string QB exploited our confusion and inability to both read and stop it as soon as they started running speed option stretch plays. Numerous times we'd have a guy over the end in space who had no idea what to do or who to take and watched both the QB and RB split him and run by untouched. Sadly, we don't even have QB's on the roster to emulate this style of play in practice either because we run and have mainly pro-style QB's. Orth is a semi-dual threat guy and is the closest thing we have to a running QB (our only one) but his style and speed is too slow for what we face by teams that run a true RPO offense and true dual threat QB.

Re: 2022 Bowl Game
This is why my job isn't so bad...I never see anyone from ownership...my regional comes out like once every few months...a lot of our offices have cameras...mine somehow got disconnected...that they can theoretically check in on you with (some dumbass got fired because he was spending a bunch of time in the back playing xbox) .
My regional has suggested that I start a side business during my down time. So..the pay is a little subpar. But, I'm left pretty much alone all the time, so it has it's benefits.

Re: 2022 Bowl Game
Few highlights from the interview:
Stressed that the team is still inconsistent week to week in practice and obviously had some games this year where there were massive letdowns because of that. The extra 15 practices are big for the program and the plan is to focus on the run game.
Highlighted Broden as a guy who can be an NFL player. They want him to add 10-15 more lbs this offseason and have him be the focal receiver in the pass game next season.
Proud of the senior class to be able to go out with a 13th game and hopefully a winning record. Said those guys have been the leaders all year long and have stuck it out through some obvious pretty lean years.

Thanks for the report. By run game, did he mean running the ball, or stopping the RPO?jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 05, 2022 9:44 amFew highlights from the interview:

I think that makes a lot of sense with Broden. That young man has a huge potential ceiling.
Re: 2022 Bowl Game
I had a quick phone conversation with BG ticket office. I was told that if you buy tickets through BG (as they're touting), you'll get a reservation for tickets, and won't be able to pick a section or specific seats. BG sections are 30 through 24. Specific seats can be purchased though Ford Field (Ticketmaster). Also, if you want to buy parking, that has to be done through Ford Field. Supposedly, buying through BG tickets will be allocated (section, seat location) by BG customer profile.
As far as I could determine, $30 parking in the Ford Field parking deck cannot be pre-purchased. Other parking spots can be bought through parkwhiz.com.

All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.
