Eigner was handed the keys to a Cadillac and he's close to driving it off a cliff. Moosbrugger was lazy in replacing Berge and the program is paying for it.

I love Ty, but I’m afraid this might be right.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 9:00 pm Eigner was handed the keys to a Cadillac and he's close to driving it off a cliff. Moosbrugger was lazy in replacing Berge and the program is paying for it.
We sustained for a little but it’s been downhill the past 2 years. Not close to the standard we should expect from this program.
Damn, man.

I like Ty too, but his brand of hockey isn't a winning brand. Team is mentally soft. Defensively they're a nightmare in front of the net. Only a few forwards with any sort of ability to create on their own. It's frustrating.mbenecke wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 9:05 pmI love Ty, but I’m afraid this might be right.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 9:00 pm Eigner was handed the keys to a Cadillac and he's close to driving it off a cliff. We were on the Power Play for nearly 10 minutes in this game.
16 total Shots.......Awful
Defensively just as awful.....allowing 40 shots.

If the expectation is to mirror the program after MNST, we're a million miles away.unfalconbelievable wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 9:26 pm We were on the Power Play for nearly 10 minutes in this game.

Amazing how Mankato always seems to be here when the students are gone.

Is this 13 losses in a row against Mankato now? Completely unacceptable. I understand that they are a very good program and that we aren’t really on their level right now, but we cannot be getting demolished every time we play this team. If we’re ever going to challenge for a conference title again (we’re going on 35 years now), this must end.

You are not wrong. Budget constraints, facilities, systems, the portal, all excuses.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 9:33 pmIf the expectation is to mirror the program after MNST, we're a million miles away.unfalconbelievable wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 9:26 pm We were on the Power Play for nearly 10 minutes in this game.

STOP ACCEPTING MEDIOCRITY.
Re: vs. Minnesota State (12/9-12/10)
Just saw the replay of the Swankler hit. No way that should have been a major, let alone the game misconduct. It's sad that they wanted Eigner to challenge the hit on Barber to even get a penalty, while Swankler gets the gate without a review.

Barber hit was unfortunate but clean. He was off balance and fell awkwardly into the boards. Plus he was hit more from the side and not the back. Sucks he got hurt but it is what it is.

Fits the definition of boarding to a T, and should have been called a 2 with a review. Same with Swankler's.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 10:17 pmBarber hit was unfortunate but clean. Re: vs. Minnesota State (12/9-12/10)
Just got back. We stayed ‘til the bitter end.
From where we sit just below the main camera it looked like the dude was already falling when Swankler hit him. Did not look intentional.
JFC, can we win a battle just once? They were stronger on the puck all night. Pick a zone, they were on us. And winning those battles. Grrrrr.
We couldn’t deal with their forecheck. At. All.
Speaking of their forecheck, on one of our PPs they sent a forechecker at our two defensemen and backed them up from our blue line below our goal line. One forechecker. While they were short. Grrrrr.
I think a proper face off strategy is to not bother putting a center in the faceoff circle. Keep all 5 guys outside the circle; we’d win the same number of draws and would already be in good position to defend.
Eigner was asked in the coaches talk last night about the speed of their wingers, how they motor up the sides, and what were we going to do to stop that. “Forecheck hard,” was the response. Ok, fine. Then do it. All game long my dad is yelling “There go those wingers flying up the ice again.” I guess the uber forecheck plan didn’t work.
I’m so sick of being curb stomped by that team. I’d allowed myself some hope that things were maybe looking up but it’s not happening. We gave up 11 out of 12 points to a team that was swept at home by Ferris.

Better off trapping than forechecking hard against a team like MNST. Try to slow them down. If coaches want to get into a track meet with them, you get what happens tonight. Don't understand that strategy.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 10:42 pm Just got back. We stayed ‘til the bitter end.

Re: vs. Minnesota State (12/9-12/10)
Evola looked pretty solid in the action he faced. The goal allowed was the result of the defense's failure to clear the third or fourth rebound. Not many goaltenders gonna stop that one. Wouldn't be surprised to see him against RPI. Very little chance of an at large at this point, so may as well show Stoever he has some competition for the spot. And that he has a very capable backup if he's not feeling 100%.
Lellig was not on the bench for the third period. Didn't see what may have happened with him last night. I know Friday night he got ran hard into the boards, then blocked a monster shot that hurt. Not sure if that finally caught up with him or something else happened.
