My regional has suggested that I start a side business during my down time. So..the pay is a little subpar. But, I'm left pretty much alone all the time, so it has it's benefits.
I get it. Just seems like it'd be a pretty simple system adjustment that nobody gets cancelled on 12/26 & 1/2 because those are the federally recognized holidays this year. *shrug*

There are benefits to being left alone though, I'm in a similar IT boat, mostly left alone but do have to work other days that people would normally have off. We didn't receive a single ticket/text/email but we were technically "available" on black Friday. Of course not a single client was actually open so I don't understand the point of us being "open" but whatever...

Few highlights from the interview:

Stressed that the team is still inconsistent week to week in practice and obviously had some games this year where there were massive letdowns because of that. The extra 15 practices are big for the program and the plan is to focus on the run game.

Highlighted Broden as a guy who can be an NFL player. They want him to add 10-15 more lbs this offseason and have him be the focal receiver in the pass game next season.

Proud of the senior class to be able to go out with a 13th game and hopefully a winning record. Said those guys have been the leaders all year long and have stuck it out through some obvious pretty lean years.
Thanks for the report. By run game, did he mean running the ball, or stopping the RPO?

I think that makes a lot of sense with Broden. That young man has a huge potential ceiling.
Running the ball. He was being a bit tongue in cheek during the interview but he mentioned Michigan being a strong 2nd half team and a lot of that has to do with being able to run the ball consistently and eventually wearing down defenses. Thinks if BG can find that element that they can compete next year for a conference championship.

I won’t be able to make to the game because we’re going to be on #BabyWatch in the mbenecke household. But I hope all of you making the trip enjoy the hell out of it and the boys bring home a W.

I’ll let you know if anyone on ESPN says anything interesting during the broadcast. Lol

Would also love to be there but flying up from Maryland the day after Christmas is a pretty hard sell. Certainly hope there is a solid turnout considering the proximity. I think it'll be a fun, close game, and I think solid fan support will make a difference (a la Toledo game).

Seriously, WTaF?

This country...smh...
You should come work the trades. At least he knows his work schedule a month out. I showed up today not knowing if I'm here for 8,10, or 12 hours. Next week, I might be laid off, work 80 hours, or somewhere in between.

At least I know I'm here m-f, 9-6 I have a large screen TV with a Roku, reasonably fast internet and no one bothering me. Show up on time...close your sales at a reasonable clip and don't clock out early and they'll love you. I've usually been that "I have bigger problems than you, so I'm leaving you alone" guy when working w/o direct in house supervision. It's kinda nice...

Well, BG is only 1-5 in its last 6 bowl games, so something has to give. The 2009 loss to Idaho was a heartbreaker, that one stung for a long time because it looked like BG was going to win on that Freddie Barnes catch with under a minute to play. Unfortunately, there was enough time left for Idaho to rip out our hearts with a TD and 2 point conversion. I was at both the 2012 (San Jose State) and 2013 (Pitt) bowl games and both were tough losses to swallow as well. BG led SJSU late before falling, and Pitt kicked a late FG to spoil the end of a really terrific season. That Pitt loss hurt for a long time too. A win over a P5 team in that bowl would have made 2013 a really, really special season. That's why I will take a win over NMSU in any way, shape or form. We've been absent from a bowl the last 6 years and all but 1 of our last 6 bowls has resulted in a loss. Some of them of the painful variety.

Pete Flutiak of College Football News says the Quick Lane Bowl should be "sneaky good." Ranks it 28th, ahead of most of the games with MAC participants.

Makes sense. The Athletic has BG ranked 101 and NMSU ranked 102 in their final season rankings. I can't imagine any other low-level bowl has two opponents so closely ranked.

This game worries me. It looks pretty even on paper, but NMSU had 4 straight losing seasons and then brought in Jerry Kill. Someone shared that he had a subpar bowl record, but the guy can clearly coach if you look at what he's done over his career. He took them from 2-10 to 6-6 in year one. They started slow, but as they have gotten more time working in his system, they've built momentum and come in to this game on a roll.

They run an RPO offense with a QB who is more mobile than ours, which always seems to be a problem for us.

I don't think we win this one, but then again we have found out that it's impossible to predict what we will see from this BG team.

Expect it to be high scoring. Agree with BG not being able to stop a dual threat QB. That has always been an issue here. NMST's defense is not good however and I expect BG to have good success throwing the ball, and we may even see the run game finally break through. Most likely this is a one score game in either direction, but given this will be a de facto home game for BG I believe they pull it out.

I just hope the kids get some nice Bowl Game swag...although ending the season with a winning record would be nice

This s bowl is supposed to be one of the better ones for player swag, at this level!

Makes sense given the destination.
