I get the fan sentiment. That’s not what I was referencing.BGSU33 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 10:25 pmLet me ask you a question. Did you earn a degree from BGSU? I'm guessing the answer is no, but I could be wrong. Well I did. And many of us on here did. Many of us on here care about what happens at BG. I don't really care about the 1,000+ guys who have already left other schools or the issues they are dealing with at those places. Those aren't my schools. But I care about the guys who leave my school and the issues at BG. Now, do I understand or agree with the decisions of all those guys who leave? Sometimes, but not always. It varies. But it for sure hurts when we lose good players, especially as we continue to try and build this program back up to what it used to be and can be again. I can totally understand guys who aren't good enough to play here or those we missed on recruiting leaving. It's the guys we recruited and developed that we hope to build around that go that are crushing losses. The guys we pick up in exchange are guys who are choosing to come to BG. I don't care what school they left behind, I care about the one they are coming to. Of course we're going to welcome those who chose to come to BG. As for the ones who are leaving, the red carpet was once rolled out for them as well when they came here themselves. What do you expect, for red carpet to be rolled out for them now when they leave too? No one is doing that. Not BG, not anyone.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 8:30 am I still laugh that some here despise those that leave, and roll out the carpet for the kid we pick up. They are the same person….

Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
They were warning the players to avoid the portal. Advising they are going nowhere due to the mass chaos. They said If power 5 actually wanted them, they would help. As soon as someone shows up on the portal, they offer them without seeing film…. So don’t think if you see others with offers it means anything . Supposedly the 3 year starter at C for buffalo’s best bet right now is BG. A BG player is being coveted by a top 5 team!…..

Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
It's sad the coaches have to say this. Are there kids delusional enough to think if they enter the portal that they're going to magically get offers from bigger schools? If I recall correctly, a majority of the BG transfers last year wound up at the FCS or DII level. It hurts my brain to think these decisions are not being rooted in any sort of reality.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 10:31 am They were warning the players to avoid the portal. Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
I'm glad the coaches are putting it to them bluntly like that, and that they are willing to help if a player has interest from a top school. I also don't mind when some of the players end up at FCS or D-2 if they aren't playing here. A lot of them just want to play and after sitting on the bench for a couple years here, are willing to find something that will allow them to do that ASAP. The only ones I really don't understand are the ones who actually play here and then drop down or do a lateral move (Joe Ware going to Austin Peay comes to mind, or Marquez Cooper leaving Kent State for Ball State before a new coach is even announced).jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 10:38 amIt's sad the coaches have to say this. Curious which BG player a top 5 team wants. I'm going to guess Sims with his frame and potential. Others I could see "moving up" are Fannin and Jordan Anderson.

Well, in one breath they tell you to not go in the portal. In the next breath they say we are going into the portal for 2 QBs and more o lineman, and maybe a few DBs……I think the smart ones have a landing spot pre arranged before turning in their wings.

Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
I know for a fact that some kids (not at BG) have been contacted well ahead of time by P5 schools gauging their interest about transferring. I'd call it tampering without it being tampering since they're not flatly asking said kid to come to their school, but the implied message is hey we want you on our roster once the portal opens.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 10:50 am Well, in one breath they tell you to not go in the portal. To me, if you're a player who hasn't received that type of communication then you're certainly rolling the dice throwing your name in the open sea and hoping someone reels you in.
As for the coaches using the portal to fill slots, I don't think it's apples to apples. It's basically supply and demand. That's why it's risky if you don't have a guarantee from another institution...

Javonte Kinsey committed to Campbell today. Best of luck to him.

Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
Wow....you continue to be confused over a very easy concept to comprehend. The solution to your conundrum is, they are simply trying to retain their own players - the ones they recruited or brought into the program - and keeping them here at BG. This is an apples-to-oranges concept, not an apples-to-apples analogy you're trying to make it out to be. In addition, they are trying to fill holes and/or areas of need with players from other schools who also want to be at BG. While this novel concept seems to have you perplexed, you can rest assured, it's the same formula many other schools are implementing themselves. Why this topic continues to baffle you is beyond me....SMH....roguewarrior wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 10:50 am Well, in one breath they tell you to not go in the portal. I think there's a certain level of hypocrisy in s**t talking the process in one breath while participating in it with the next.
It's like that line from "North Dallas 40". "When I say it's a game, you say it's a business, when I treat it like a business, you say its a game"

Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
Nobody s**t talked the process like Scot Loeffler. He is still selling an outdated process, an outdated offense, while offering every offensive lineman in the portal and it still doesn’t fix it.Flipper wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 7:12 am I think there's a certain level of hypocrisy in s**t talking the process in one breath while participating in it with the next.
