Re: vs. Fairmont
We play Elssaser 27 minutes against a D2 while Lightfoot and McCombs barely see the floor. Yeah, that's how ya grow freshmen.

Clearly we’re in win-now mode. Can’t worry about the future when this is the year to go all in on winning the MAC.BleedOrange wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 3:53 pm We play Elssaser 27 minutes against a D2 while Lightfoot and McCombs barely see the floor. Yeah, that's how ya grow freshmen.

Re: vs. Fairmont
I do not get what we are doing sometimes. Against smaller opponents we are playing elsaaser at 4. We were terrible when he was on the floor. When we put two true posts out there we dominated. We get in moments we need to score and we put non scorers on the floor. We got into a press moment and subbed out curtis to keep elsasser and mccomb out there who cant dribble. The rotation should be guards (curtis, ayers, mills, matheny, lightfoot) 4 out there when we want scoring but never less than 3 of those. And agee should be the 5, towns his backup if 1 post. Both out there if two posts. Gabe as their sub.
We will not survive good teams playing Elsasser. Im sure hes a wonderful person but he shouldnt be on the floor over any of those guys. Him starting and agee off feels like watching holmes sit while cam black gets run.
The guys game after game look lost as to their role and sub patterns.
Agee/towns
Curtis mills ayers
Matheny lightfoot gabe should be the core 8

Yeah, Cam Black. He played in front of the far superior Torian Oblesby also. Orr, Dakich, and Hugor all refused to play their best talent. Cam Black, John Floyd, Dee Brown, Luke Krauss, Marc Larson. It's been weird as hell.

Re: vs. Fairmont
I would highly doubt that it has anything to do with grades. Covid made the college degree easier than ever.notkithughes wrote: ↑Tue Dec 20, 2022 4:03 pmPerhaps there are issues with grades.Flipper wrote: ↑Tue Dec 20, 2022 11:12 amOur coach is an idiot...there is no other explanationBleedOrange wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 3:53 pm We play Elssaser 27 minutes against a D2 while Lightfoot and McCombs barely see the floor. Re: vs. Fairmont
That’s where you are wrong. Students are very unprepared for their courses now because they didn’t learn what they should have when they participated in virtual classes. Yes, they were allowed to just pass/fail classes during COVID, but now they actually have to know things from those classes AND learn the new material.guest44 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 6:25 amI would highly doubt that it has anything to do with grades. ROLL ALONG!!!
Re: vs. Fairmont
Actually it provided a road map on the easiest road possible from the instructors perspective too. Same wage, less work. Ask the students themselves. The instructors are being held to a much lower standard. Student athletes have more resources than ever.

Not being disparaging anyone, but Football and Basketball players would have to be either unbelievably lazy or have some type of learning disability to go ineligible. They have academic advisors who not only help them schedule classes and stay on track, but they meet weekly with players to make sure they are completing assignments. They also have tutors for any class they need. They still have to do the work, but they have extremely valuable resources to use.

Re: vs. Fairmont
This is true, but having worked in college athletics, I have to agree with Tommy here (I think that's the first time I've ever said that!). The resource of advisors and tutors provided to athletes is significant and while it is, of course, difficult to achieve levels like 3.0+, you have to actively ignore these resources to actually fail your classes (unless you have a professor that is completely unwilling to work with an athlete's schedule, of which I had one while I was at BG, though football players were warned to avoid his class if possible).Globetrotter wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 11:08 amThey also have full time jobs playing basketball.TommyG wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 9:30 am Not being disparaging anyone, but Football and Basketball players would have to be either unbelievably lazy or have some type of learning disability to go ineligible.
