Now that the alcohol has worn off…
I’m not sure our current staff is it. We’ve got pretty damn good talent for a MAC school, but they seem so incapable of putting it together. Very frustrating because we beat good teams in Marshall and Toledo, but then get rocked by teams like Buffalo and Kent State. McDonald going down obviously hurt us, but that was a beatable team. I know it’s the MAC but still, this team should’ve been 9-4 at least
Fire Loeffler... NOW!
Re: Fire Loeffler... NOW!
Offensively Loeffler is who he is. He's an offensive coach with a QB coaching background who has shown at nearly every stop he can't actually produce a good offense.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 10:25 am Too much hubris from Scot to admit his system doesn't work. Agree with Flip that an RPO/zone read game much like they ran with Loy would be good with Orth, if he ends up getting the starting job, but the core of the scheme isn't going anywhere. I have my doubts though that any QB on the current roster is good enough to run the offense, and that's a major indictment on the staff.
As for the OL, a new coach might help, but when you're plucking guys from the FCS level and expecting them to compete every week against FBS talent, it's a big ask.
Maybe he could be fine as a CEO head coach (although I don't know our recruiting or discipline issues shine a favorable light on that either). But as long as he's here he's likely doing his own thing on offense (as he should). So as long as he's here, I have zero hope for that side of the ball.

I like Orth...kid has solid size and can run. Throws a nice spiral as well.

1. Good to see an AD active on the socials
2. Good to see he is publicly showing his support and decision
3. Good for the basketball program that needs a new coach too
4. Bad for the Football fans who had a glimmer of hope we'd see change this year.
Cool thing is that we would have been so late in the game that anyone we were really looking at as a candidate will still be here in 2023. An AD fresh on the job letting himself have a year to get everything settled before replacing a coach makes a ton of sense to me. Best case scenario, other than Loeffler somehow righting this ship, replace Huger in March and Loeffler in November of next year.

He has until about 4/1 to fire Huger for me.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 5:03 pm1. Good to see an AD active on the socials

He's been active on social as a rah rah guy. Been burned WAY too much by the recent ADs here and I fear he's another rah rah just keep the status quo as if BG athletics status quo is acceptable.
Clearly he's been duped by Loeffler. If they give him a real extension and keep Huger around my thoughts on the new guy will already be pretty well formed.

Maybe he hasn't been duped by Loeffler. Maybe there was money for one buyout and he's got it earmarked for Huger and then he will just let Loefflers contract run out.hammb wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 5:19 pmHe has until about 4/1 to fire Huger for me.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 5:03 pm1. As far as Rah Rah guys go...I'd rather have that then someone who is non existent.

Until you fire the coach you better publicly support the coach. I would expect nothing less from a classy AD.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.
Re: Fire Loeffler... NOW!
I like the fight in this team. Did not mail the game in when we got behind. I did think our defense would be better this year but not ready to pile on the coach. If we get better especially on the offensive line we will be in the mix next year. I liked what I saw in Orth.
