KSU fans under-estimating us

Post by Anonymous »

I been looking at a few of the message boards for KSU. Theirs fans claim that the MAC is not good, most people too, and that we are guard oriented. Hmm, guess they dont know too much about Liz or Ali. I wouldnt really call them guards. Most fans are already saying they will beat Vandy in the second round. I think we should show these Big 12 fans who BG really is.

What would you expect from fans of a Big12 team to do? I'm sure they think they will roll over us like a possum in the road , which could happen , but I think they'd be wise to keep their traps shut for now don't you? :D Mabaye Coach Miller can use something like this to rile up the ladies even more! :-\

They aren't understimating us. The MAC is not good in women's basketball. The talent gap between big schools and schools like us is far greater than in men's basketball or football. We are a very good team but we are nowhere near the level of the top 15 teams in the country of which KSU is one. Just look at the OSU game for that. Am I saying we have no chance? absolutely not. All I'm saying is they have every right to look to the second round. I would if I were in their position. We need a lot of stars to align for us to knock of KSU, but I would not be shocked if we did. I'd give us about a 20% chance of the upset. EMU almost got BC in the opening round last year as a 14 seed I believe. This game should be close but I would bet we are double digit underdogs. We better be dead on from 3 land -- 50% or greater or look out.

Why does everyone bring up the OSU game. That was 23 games ago, and 4 months ago. We are a different team now than then. Kate Achter has grown into the role. Have you been to a BG womens game Heisman?? This team is tough. This team is good. Glad to see you have such confidence.

BINGO.

This team is capable of winning against KSU. They could pull a surprise here. And who gives a rat's azz what the KSU fans think? Typical BCS talk.

Dont start this crap -- I've been to more games than you the past two years and more games than probably anybody on this board outside of parents if there are any and a couple others. Did you go to the @ EMU game this year? or @ toledo last year? Or every home game save 2 the last two years? Or to every game at the Gund last year? I suppose you don't live with two of the players either. Take off your orange and brown glasses for a second a be a realist. this isn't football where we can compete with the likes of Oklahoma and (I hate to say this) OSU on a regular basis. This is women's basketball. the talent gap between us and major conference schools is ASTRONOMICAL compared to those sports. I love this team more than anybody on this board and know this team better than anybody on this board. These girls have had one hell of a year and are one hell of a team. I am simply saying that women's college basketball is a different animal than men's basketball or football. Upsets are not commonplace in the women's tourney as they are in the men's. We have a better chance than the other 13 seeds to pull off an upset and we have a favorable matchup. But to give our team any more than a 20 percent chance of victory is ludicrous. If you would like to put your money where your mouth is I'll give you 5-1 odds. I do need a new TV....

Excuse Me. I went to everygame this year but 2, and I was in the hospital for those getting my appendix out. I even went to OSU, I went to all the tournaments, even out to New Mexico. Went to the Gund. I think I am a regular follower. I have been since Fran Voll back in the 1980's. And I am going to Washington too. And if you follow BG womens so much then you should think BG has a good chance of winning against KSU

that's awesome that you go to all the games -- I wish more did. Now that we know each others credentials we can discuss this without demeaning each other. Still -- I can not realistically give us more than a 1 in 5 chance of winning. My heart tells me that BG will win every game in every sport. But this matchup is akin to our mens team playing an oklahoma state or texas. They would be bigger, faster, and more athletic than us, but if we play mistake free basketball and shoot well, we can win. Would you give our guys more than a 1 in 5 chance to beat Oklahoma state or Michigan State? I'm honestly asking. I think giving our girls a 1 in 5 chance to win is extremely extremely hopeful given the landscape of this sport and the youth of our team. I hope I'm wrong.

I like our chances here in this region moreso of being a #13 seed in the other regions.

And our team played well for being a young team in the PIT. I think we will scare a few people this year, and if we dont win a game in the tourny this year, we our young so look out next year.

I absolutely agree -- I said in another post that i could not see a better matchup for us in this round. The venue is in our favor compared to other possible matchups also. We could not have asked for anything more. i cannot wait til Saturday night.

I also look for us to be 13 seeds in at least the next two tourneys. At least once in the next 3 years, we will win a tournament game.

Next few years I think we will move up in the seedings, just as long as we dont draw a #8/#9 seed. I think being a 8 or 9 seed is worse then being a #13 seed.

If we can get past KSU, our second round game would be an easier matchup comparatively. To think that BG women's hoops could be in the sweet 16 is almost too much for my heart to take. I think even to win the KSU game would make this team's year even more succesful than football.
