END OF ONE: BG leads 2-1.

Shots were 13-9 in favor of RPI in the first.

A few bad turnovers, but that was easily our best period of hockey in a month. Offense is creative and generating quality chances. Defense still needs to be better, and we need to be more disciplined. But we’ll live with a 2-1 lead. Gotta expand on it.

END OF TWO: BG still leads 2-1.

RPI leads in shots 21-18. Engineers carried the first 5 minutes of the period, but BG battled back and started carrying play as the period went on.

20 minutes left in regulation. Curious to see how this third period goes.

We started carrying the puck across the blue line instead of dumping it in. If we would only do that on a regular basis. Doing a decent job on faceoffs.

This is a difficult game to watch.

Falcons win, 3-1.

BG wins the shot battle 33-31 on the night, and that’s our 9th win of the season.

Game 2 tomorrow night.

Swankler has a point in 11 straight games he’s played in. Dude is a legit star in this league.

Swanks was the best player on either team.

We won. But it should have been a blowout. RPI is not that talented. Get we kinda played down to their level.

We stayed out of the box which was nice.

RPI showed up trying to be physical. It showed with BG being 2/6 on the powerplay, and killing off both times they were shorthanded. Those 6 could've easily been 10 or 12 without much of an argument. BG is still playing to stay out of the box while everybody else is playing the "they won't call everything" game.

Swankler certainly looks like the next NHL star to come out of BG. He's one of the more skilled guys I've seen on the ice for the Falcons since I started following in 2005. I wish this roster could put it together because in the few games I've watched, it seems like the talent is there for this to be a top 20 team, but the discipline is not.

Game 2 starts with an early RPI goal. Wozney was trying to go D to D, but his partner had already left the ice so he passed to nobody, and that ugly turnover ends up in the back of our net. That was one of the worst BG hockey mistakes I have seen in a long time.

And now we take a penalty for kneeing.

I’m worried about an avalanche here…

Another turnover in our own zone, and a wide open RPI player cuts right to the goal. Brutal defending so far.

2-0 Engineers. Ty called his timeout just 6 minutes in.

2 goals on 9 shots in 6 min. Insert metaphor here.
