To think that BG women's hoops could be in the sweet 16 is almost too much for my heart to take. I think even to win the KSU game would make this team's year even more succesful than football.

What about the men's bball team?

nah -- we got no chance of an 8-9 seed unless we go undefeated or have 1 loss. and 8-9 seed would suck because as you hinted at, sweet 16 would be out of the question. UW Milwaukee is a 12 seed coming off a 3 loss season. 12 seed looks like the cap for mid-major teams without serious historical national success. I would be happiest with a 12 seed. 12 seeds historically have the best low seed record in men's and women's tourney competition.

I think BG was a #11 seed back in the 90's, but I think that was when they only has 48 teams.

Being in Big 12 country I have followed K State and the conference as a whole. This is the same KSU team that took Baylor to the wire this weekend, and has played a tougher schedule than we have. Someone said in an ealier post baby steps, and I would have to agree. I really feel we will make a good showing, but to say that we have the potential to knock off KSU is going out on a limb. I will be cheering as hard as all of you for us to do this, but realistically this game scares me. The Big 12 is right up there in my mind with the SEC and Big East when it comes to womens college basketball, and playing one of the best teams in that conference sucks. I think this is a great experience for all of our players, and since we are so young and loaded in the underclasses, I am really looking forward to seeing this team blossom into a team that people that follow the womens game will appreciate and take notice of. Let's just bask in the glow that these women have given all of us this season and put all our energy into getting ready to cheer them on come Saturday. They have earned all of our support, and no matter what we think that outcome of the game is going to be, I think that for now we need to concentrate on the philosophy of "Anything can happen". Let KSU underestimate us and look forward to the next round, because that is where our disadvantage becomes an advantage.

And you guys think I'm pessamistic! I don't much about K-State but I'm sure they are very good. Like DD just said on 1470 The Ticket a little while ago , lets hope we get a good "whistle" over in Washington , if we play mistake free basketball and K-State has less than steller shooting we might scare them good. Really I all hope for is that ALOT more people figure out that these ladies are good and start coming to games next year instead of saying that the ladies basketall is so subpar and boring. :| That goes for you too Hammb!

Weren't we an 8 seed in 1994? We hosted a first round game against Florida and Little Richard sank the game winning shot in the final seconds in a heartbreaking loss. That team was ranked in the top 25 at a point that year....

you have to remember, at that time we were on a serious power run. I think we had won 6 of 8 MAC championships or something. We had built up credibility with the committee. That credibility was slowly eroded over the past 10 years (before last year of course). Perhaps in 3 or 4 years if we continue like this we could see our seed begin to grow or at-large possibilities pop-up. not next year though. I'm content with a 12-13 seed.

i was at work all night and i missed some of the discussion.

like most of us here, i too have a severe passion for this team. and i think some of us are a little too "falcon drunk" for the moment to realize what is going on. tomorrow we are playing KSU in the first-round of the ncaa tournament. i realize that we are a completely different team than when we played OSU. that has been said. however, we are not big-12 good. as jacobs said there is a severe gap in women's basketball, and i agree. its easier for mens teams to upset the lower seeds. it has been said and i am not going to go there.

what i want to say is...

it will take near-perfect shooting, minimal turnovers, and some severe rebounding for us to win. but you know what... it can and it will happen with these women. they all have heart and they know what it takes to win these big games. we saw it last week. even the games at kent and eastern this year, they never gave up. poor shooting and poor officiating did not get them down. they fought until the end when the opposition gave up on them. lets hope KSU is in a mind-set with their fans. hopefully, they are looking into the sweet-16 because you know coach miller, his staff, and the team are looking to the first round. these ladies can do it. they are BG warriors.

the critics are out there, they believe we don't stand a chance and we know KSU wants to go on to the sweet 16. let them go on because we are here to play the first round and you have to win that game before you can move on.

my prediction...
BGSU 64
KSU 58

just have a falcon positive attitude, hope for a good game, and pray for a BG victory. it will be tough, but not impossible.

also, be serious... it will take the next three or four consecutive mac championships before we move past the 13 or 14 seed. no one takes the mac seriously. we saw that today with florida and ohio. ohio played their keisters off and florida gave up on them because they were a mac school. it almost knocked florida out of the tourny, in the first round, for the 4th year in a row.
