The inability to build and retain an OL has been the primary downfall of the Scot Loeffler regime

Maybe Moose and Con Man Kit should have had a different tone toward NIL back in July of 2021. Just maybe.

He outpaced Hilaire that season
Not really meaningful ...but OK
It’s just as meaningful as your take.

My take is tht Broden was/is a better player...Broden is in the portal and has offers from Pitt and Syracuse. Did Ibrahim have those kind of offers? Is Ibrahim 6-7 with a 4.4 40?

Broden is a proven commodity moving up and out. Ibrahim or anyone else on our radar, is moving UP to BG, unproven. I’ll take Broden all day.

MAC Teams are not able to replace one-third of their roster every year. Especially with a bad coach. The luckiest 6-7 record you’ll ever see is the high water mark of this program.

The reason coaches leave is 1. The money 2. It isn’t really feasible to have sustainable success if the conference. Basically every program has a couple years where they are good and then they rebuild. Coaches know if they don’t get a better job after a good stretch, they probably won’t survive the rebuild.
Coaches at BG openly talk about telling each other, win and get out. If you stick around they’ll want to fire you.

Even Jerry York arguably a top 5 college coach of all time was hearing fans wanting to fire him before he left for BC.

Not everyone in the MAC is losing kids like we are...Toledo, CMU, Miami...they've lost far fewer kids than we have. We're getting into Kent State territory and their coach left. I think you have to view this as yet anther indictment of the way the program is being run

Lots of talented guys moving on. To be completely honest, every guy on the roster would go to a bigger program if given the chance. So I don’t blame them one bit. There is NOTHING that ANYONE could do to get those guys to stay. Even if we were 10-2 and winning the MAC, guys would still jump at the opportunity to play at a P5 school that goes 7-5 and plays on national TV every week. They know the more viable path to being noticed is playing at the P5 level. That’s not to say it’s impossible in the MAC - but those kids are now going to be poached by the P5. It’s not going to get easier for us to get better at football moving forward.

The MAC isn’t really D1 football anymore. We’re a minor league for the big boys. I think we need to adjust our expectations accordingly.

Excellent point. And you need to add Ohio to that list. The Bobcats loses a few guys buried on the depth chart from year to year, but they don’t loses their best players like BG does. Rourke was the MAC Player of the Year for Ohio this year. He’ll be in Athens for two more years, so BG can forget about seeing the light of day in Detroit the next two season. But if BG had the MAC Player of the Year this season with two years of eligibility left, he’d be right into the portal right now. I guarantee it. BG simply can’t compete with Ohio’s player retention and it translates to what happens on the field as the series has swung way in favor of OU. Clawson spoke about what Ohio had put together and was doing years ago and they are STILL the same type of a program for the last 15 years! It’s remarkable. Aside from their hiccup season a year ago, they’re ALWAYS in contention for the MAC Championship and bounced right back and got back there again this season. We’ll never get back to what we want to be or even to Ohio’s level again losing players like this. Clawson’s assessment still rings true.

Knew he was done, wasn't dressed for the bowl game. Was helping call plays on the sidelines.

And we’ve just lost 3 more key parts of it (with probably more to come), including 2 who were expected back for 2023. The loss of Grant is a huge blow. He was our best returning OL heading into next year and was regarded as the best of any OL that BG signed as a recruit out of high school that we had on the roster.

The AD should be able to connect the dots here…. We are bleeding players because they don’t believe in the scheme or the coaches or the prospects for next season…. It’s that simple. You may as well cut the cord now, since it is a year one rebuild again.
