Bleeding's post inspired me to use the dictionary. In case anyone else was wondering:

An unsophisticated country person.

Bleeding Orange wrote:(1) I have been contacted by the person(s) that this thread was addressing, and I am happy to say that I was sorely mistaken about the intent of the chant. And in hindsight, to be perfectly honest, I should have known better. The people participating in this chant last night are some of the best Falcon fans that we have. I suppose I was just upset after the game and was feeling a little too confrontational. To all involved, I am truly sorry, and thank you for all of your support for Jordan and this team. I know that they all feel as I do that despite this disappointing weekend, this has been one of the most inspirational teams to ever don Falcon hockey sweaters.

(2) To those of you bashing the Alumni Athletic Band, STEP THE F--- OFF! You people have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, and quite frankly, you sound like infantile rubes. The people who played last night did so on less than a weeks notice, showed up with their instruments at 6:00 and played their butts off all night long. Their support meant a lot to fans like myself, and I'm sure it meant even more to the team, which is the most important thing. What they did last night in volunteering to play for this game on such short notice and with almost no practice is, in my opinion, the epitome of Falcon fandom. For the two of you to berate their efforts shows a complete lack of class. If you can not find it in your puny little souls to thank them for their efforts, then go ahead and buy a maize and blue hockey sweater. Yost is filled with losers like you and you should fit in there very, very well.

A third thing: I appologize to everyone for opening these cans of worms.

Bleeding,

I can see your point and how the Hobey Baker chant could have been taken the wrong way. If we went to that school up north, the cheer would have most likely been one of sarcasim (I grew up a U of M fan, and I'm saying that?? Jeez!). I understand feeling confrontational after a tuff and agonnizing loss. You didn't offend me, seeing's how you gave myself (and others) a chance to explain ourselves and our reasonings.

About the A-Band, I do have a small beef with how they sounded, however I am also VERY understanding of the actions surrounding this weekend. I have heard better bands play. I have also heard much worse. I am keeping in mind that this was thrown together at the last minute, that the alumni are not always in the best shape, and that some of the students who sat in also played earlier in Cleveland. With all things considered, the band did an outstanding job, and proably sounded the best they could. It takes a lot to sit and play in the A Band, even under ideal conditions. I'm very glad that they were there, doing what they could. I think it's Finally in 04 that I agree with in that even a "so so" is better than listening to the Jukebox all night.

Oh and you're right, the Yost is filled with a bunch of maze and blue yeaholes! Makes me glad to be a Falcon!

There's no group bashing the alumni band. There's not even one person bashing it. All I said was the drums sounded bad.

Heard it already, and again I understand. It all makes sense as to why I heard what I heard Saturday night.

Only my shrink can refer to me as two people, and I'm very sensitive about my multiple personalities. Thank you very much.
"You're welcome Sussman."
"Don't mention it!"

Wow, shot at Michigan out of nowhere. Wait, there's also a shot at me there.
"And me."
"And me."
"And also me."

A third thing: I appologize to everyone for opening these cans of worms.

"None taken."
"None here either."
"Or here."
"I don't forgive you!"
"But I do."
"So do I."
"Me too."
"I'm still offended!"
"Same here!"
"I wasn't listening, what was said?"
"Oh pay attention next time!"

Sincerely,
The Sussmen

I believe, and bleeding, correct me if I'm wrong, that the two people that have been refered to are Sussman and ChelseaLou. I feel that the drummer that stepped up after the start of the game did about as good a job as could be resonably be expected (esp. if I understand correctly that he doesn't even go to BGSU).

On a side note, Sussman, I like the multi personalties. Sometimes I think we have the same problem. *NO WE DON'T!!! *

Okay. I'm not one to participate in flame wars, but apparently since some people think I am, I should probably clarify.

To do this, I'll start with an unknown fact (or series of facts): I was president of the band in high school, a member of the University Band (not this semester), and a die-hard "band geek." I know the in's and out's of band, including A-Band, and I understand the situation at hand.

I never meant to bash anyone. The drummer wasn't the greatest -- we've established it, it's not a big deal, he did the best he could, the A-Band deserves all the respect in the world, and apparently my boyfriend has more mental problems than I was aware of.

Yay for band. Yay for hockey. CAN WE PLEASE MOVE PAST THIS FLAME WAR NOW?

Don't bring me into this...I was just passing through.

So, this WAS the Hockey forum. Now it's become some type of flame war. The accused apologized for a misinterpretation and the apology has been accepted...moving on.

All good hockey games end in fights. This thread is simply microcosmic of the sport.

True, but even the best fights get broken up sooner or later. I think now would be about the time the linesmen jump in and break it up.

Boy, just when we're about to let a thread die, you, golfer, jump right in and refuse to let us do so! Thanks!

You know, the similarities between you and falconboy are becoming earily obvious. You guys even have the same avatar now! If I didn't look to the side I'd never be able to seperate the moronic, non-sensical comments!

Seriously, how would you know what the players were like in '84? I know it's not from actually seeing them play back then....

In answer to your question, the game and rules have changed a lot since '84. Fighting "isn't allowed" in the college game, so the rules emphasis has truly changed the game over the years. Many people would like to see "those" kind of players again, but we just don't have it as much. Sitko is the closest thing we have to a true "enforcer" on the team. And he is a pretty clean hitter, unlike a few older alums I might name!! Just my $.02 on the topic.
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

You weren't alive for 1984. Can we get this thing closed?
