The only thing that keeps me from wanting to move on is that I am a bigger basketball fan and would rather move on there first.
Impossible to think that someone like Mike Hart couldnt infuse much more life into the program.

A $550 million donation a couple years ago, $50 million of which went towards endowing athletics, has a big part to do with it. It churns out about $2.5 million a year to cover administrative costs and allows them to pay coaches much more competitively than most of the MAC.

What about Kent State? They interviewed Gino who also interviewed at WMU.BillyLP wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 4:24 pmA $550 million donation a couple years ago, $50 million of which went towards endowing athletics, has a big part to do with it. I’m pretty sure he left UC and now has a job as Wisconsin’s QB coach under Fickell.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 5:04 pmWhat about Kent State? Re: 2022 Transfer Portal
He definitely isn’t the guy.
I agree with what everyone else has kind of referred to. The program is in better shape in terms of talent, but I’d argue the amount of progress is actually behind what I would expect in year 4. I’d expect the program to have progressed this much after year 2 or year 3 at the latest.
I think deep down he has to know that they are no where close to winning a title. He’s backed himself into a corner with next year being the year they finish towards the top. He may hope, wish and pray they have that kind of year, but he’s gotta know that they are miles away from winning with this scheme. He’s lying to himself if he thinks they are a piece or two away from being a good offense. Crazy to me that he watches the tape every week and doesn’t see that what he’s trying to do isn’t working.
I agree that a decent offensive coach could probably come in and compete for a title, but you’re never going to win scoring 20 points a game.
His only chance at a 6 win season is if Terian Stewart comes back and is as good as I think he is. If they could find a way to build around him and get him 20-25 good touches a game, I think he could be dynamic enough to really produce against MAC defenses. I am not sure if he has the vision to play in the NFL (tough to tell last year if some of his reads were bad line play, bad play calling, or him not hitting the hole correctly), but he’s a NFL caliber athlete.

I knew Longo was OC. But that’s interesting - I saw a Wisconsin recruit thank Wisconsin for an offer and tag Gino in the tweet. Wonder what that was about.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 7:25 pmPhil Longo is their OC and QB coachmbenecke wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 5:18 pmI’m pretty sure he left UC and now has a job as Wisconsin’s QB coach under Fickell.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 5:04 pmWhat about Kent State? Guess you get what you pay for. Not really competitive with salary.

Maddox Kopp committed to Miami-OH. Another QB off the board.

Possibility to retain Anders was left open, if he doesn’t get an offer to his liking.
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.
