vs. LSSU (1/6-1/7)

Post by mbenecke »

This doesn’t count as a preview. I’m still frustrated.

Game 1 Friday night, Game 2 Saturday night. Both start at 7:07pm and will be streaming on Flo.

Need a sweep here.

Evola starting in net tonight. Eigner the primary backup, with Rose the third. Stoever is scratched completely, which is a little ominous.

Stoever has been ill since returning from break. Per Ty he’d play tonight if it were the last game of the season. I suspect we’ll see him tomorrow.

Rose will need surgery his other hip. He’s the third goaltender tonight. Peter is the backup.

BGSU Goal: After a LSSU penalty just 30 seconds in, Ethan Scardina finds the back of the net and BG goes up 1-0 less than 2 minutes into the game.

That statement doesn't indicate much faith in Evola.

"Our starter caught a cold, he's not at 100%, oh well, it happens. This is why our backup works his tail off, to be ready when our starter can't" would sound much better to me.

To be fair, Evola is the third guy. So I don’t know how much anyone realistically expects from him.

BGSU Goal: Nathan Burke tips in a Vinnell shot and BG leads 2-0 about halfway through the first period.

The plan for Evola tonight is cover every chance you get and don’t leave the crease. So far so good. He made a really nice stop on the 3-on-1.

END OF ONE: BG leads 2-0.

Shots are listed as BG 14, LSSU 12.

Gotta figure out a way to stop taking penalties here. 4 in a period is crazy. Skate with 5 and take care of business.

It was pointed out on the broadcast during the first period that Alex Barber is 1 of just 10 active players in college hockey with 100+ career points. And Taylor Schneider is sitting at 98, so he should be joining that club shortly.

We’re lucky to have these guys. They started slow this year but have really gotten things going in the past month and a half or so.

Only winning 27% of face-offs so far. Gotta be better on that.

In context, it was a statement on Stoever’s status, not a comment on Evola’s abilities.
