Its like they don't understand how to do help defense.hammb wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 2:38 pmFor real. None of our bigs are good enough help defenders to cover up for getting blown by every possession.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 2:37 pmThe guards have been the real issue. Getting blown passed

Re: at Western
It wasn't good in the first half, but I don't think I've ever seen a worse defensive half of college basketball.
Re: at Western
Let’s keep fouling so BG can give up 70 points in a 20 minute half of college basketball.

Maybe the most disappointing game I have ever seen. They had 39 points at half time and scored atleast 65 in the second half.
I wonder why Agee didn't go back in.

Re: at Western
This looks like an NBA score! How do you give up a hundy in MAC play?
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
Re: at Western
The best player on our team picked up his 4th foul at 9:57. We never got him back on the floor and never even tried one of our other bigs beyond O'Neal. Ridiculous

With Loeffler coming back I have to believe that Huger is out after this year. I have no clue how we can afford it but it has to be done.
Maybe Huger himself is stepping away. We don't seem to be recruiting anyone.

Re: at Western
Teams are going to know how to play us now.
1. Try to get rebounds
2. Try to dribble around players
We looked like a HS team playing a college team today.

We need Towns back desperately. He is the most important player on the roster.

Re: at Western
In the first 90 seconds of the 2nd half, the refs called 3 bullshit fouls on us. Western was playing exactly as physically as we were, and got no calls in this time. So., we stopped playing defense. Because we clearly were not allowed to. 2 of those fouls gave Turner and Agee both their 3rd fouls.
Also in the first few minutes, they called a pair of phantom travel calls. So now, we are also not allowed to play offense.
Naturally, our guys got very hesitant.
Huger did not react in any way. No words to any players on the bench. No words to refs. Just stood their like a statue waiting for media timeouts, until 11.5 minutes had passed and we were down 11 instead of up 11.
He did nothing except some bad substitutions during this time.
When Agee got his 4th - with i think 10 minutes left - he put in O'Neal. Agee never returned as the game slipped away.
What finally got Huger to call a timeout was Norman destroying us on 5 consecutive possessions off the exact same action. I high pick and pop. Either he got to the rim, or got his pop partner an open 3. So after this timeout, we stopped that, right?
Nope. We never did anything meaningful to stop that. We kept meeting Norman 8 feet out from the line giving him a completely clear lane once he got by the first defender. Who, remember, was not allowed to touch him at all.
Huger pulled O'neal and tried Turner at center. Then he pulled Turner and played 5 guards.
I left with 3 minutes remaining because all it was doing was pissing me off. Agee was essentially asleep on the bench, even though we DESPERATELY needed his shot blocking presence. Coach had them running that damn endless series of dribble handoffs across the top of the arc. You know the play. The one that ends in a turnover or a bad shot and literally never anything else. That play.
I have no doubt that Huger knows more about basketball than I do. But I am 100% certain I could manage a game better.
I'm done watching this team or even considering spending money on it until Huger is gone. What he did today all by itself was enough to merit termination. The fact it is a 7 year pattern is revolting.
The only thing i am happy about is that the game was at Western, so they are the ones who got my money, not BG.

I disagree. I think it is clearly Agee. But if coach refuses to even play Etim and Darria, then yeah, we need Towns badly.

I think it's definitely Agee as well.
