Also worth noting, and I LOVE Antonio Daniels, that he & Huger are boys. Huger hosted AD on his recruiting visit and they remain close. I'm sure Van Der Merwe is willing to pick his brain, but I find it tough to believe he's the one to put up some cash to fire his friend. Can he even look at the situation objectively enough to say he needs to be gone. Does he even keep his finger on the pulse of his alma mater?

He is a commentator, so he should know enough about the game to see what is going on. Don't know why he was in town. If they are close, maybe it was a way of firing a warning shot? Close friend comes to you and says "WTF are you doing?" May have an affect.

I wish Cowan was still with us. He was very close with AD (used to come home from weekend trips bragging about hanging out with Tim Duncan, etc). I know Kirk couldn't be happy with the way things look here and would've certainly had AD's ear. But I'm sure if AD was in town he was chatting with Huger as well. A "Wtf is going on here, man" had to come up...

My parents were the age my son is now. I'm no spring chicken. I vowed 20+ years ago I wouldn't attend an NCAA tourney game until I was watching BG, now I'm starting to think I'll never get to see one. It's effing ridiculous. It doesn't help that the 2x they made it to the MAC Championship Game it was against the best MAC teams in recent memory, but that doesn't excuse the countless times WE were favorites and bowed out early.

The program is just begging for a good coach to come in and make BG one of the best mid majors in the Midwest. Everything is there to get good players, just need a coach to develop talent and get the players to compete.
If anyone remembers watching Keith Dambrot at Akron, his biggest strength was his ability to get the kids to play hard and smart. He was always up on his feet communicating and you could see him directing his team for the important possessions.
I felt Jans had that style too, but Orr didn’t and Huger definitely doesn’t. Dakich obviously had it, his biggest issue was player retention the 2nd time around. His motion offense was maybe getting a little outdated by then too.

There is no excuse not to win…you couldn’t ask for a better situation in MAC.

No.. went to the game today. We beat a bad team and played very well in spurts. However, we allowed Miami to hang in this game with numerous bad possessions and unforced turnovers. Against a good team, that lead is blown.
