First BG player in a long time to receive recognition… and only one of 3 MAC players to be honored ( 2 UT guys = 2nd team and hon mention.

He’s had some impressive numbers in sacks, TFL etc.

Would love to see him in the DL rotation in Detroit. With Hutch, Cominsky, McNeil adding Brooks would give you a decent core.

From Tim Twentyman's day 1 Sr Bowl report...

"Bowling Green defensive lineman Karl Brooks. I thought he had a terrific first day. He was dominant on 1-on-1s and blew up a couple plays in a row in a team period. Brooks (6-3, 303) had 18.0 tackles for loss and 10.0 sacks this past season. If he continues to play like he did Tuesday, he'll be one of the big risers this week."

He will not likely put up the sack numbers in the NFL that he did in BG, but I think he's got a shot for a very long NFL career. Would love to see him in Cleveland but he's likely too old.

Combine has become batshit. Last year there were over 30 drafted guys that were combine snubs (that's over 12% of total players drafted). Meanwhile they invite well over 300 players for a 250-270 player draft. I don't know how they could be so wrong, except to say I think a lot of the mid/late tier invite list is based on guys that 1-2 teams have an interest in and the combine is the only way to get the medicals. Still it makes no sense how somebody who played (and reportedly performed quite well) in the premier collegiate all star game would be a snub. I've already seen articles calling him the very biggest combine snub, and certainly will show up on nearly every list of snubs. Most prognosticators (not that they have a perfect track record in predictions, far from it) have him rated in the 3rd-4th round range.

I'm shocked he didn't get a combine invite and would be even more shocked if he's not drafted. That kid can play and he has a skillset that is incredibly valuable. He's got the size to play some inside and the experience of playing outside as well. MAYBE he's looked at as a tweener, but where some see tweener others will see versatility.

I still want him in Cleveland.

Karl Brooks is very possibly going to be a day 2 pick. His stock skyrocketed at the Senior Bowl. Insane that he isn't invited to the combine - but I bet the BG Pro Day is well-attended.

He mentioned in an interview with a Browns-based blog that he essentially has had conversations with every NFL team. Would not be shocked if every NFL team has someone in BG this spring for pro day. Probably the best talent to come out of here since Lichtensteiger in 2008.

One thing not everybody knows is that one of the great advantages of being a Sr. Bowl attendee is you will get scheduled interview time with every single team representation.

It's only relevant because I always read stories about guys (say Brooks) will make a comment, "I met with the Browns and Lions" or something like that and it becomes this big news story, when in reality every single NFL team sat down to talk with every single player at the Senior Bowl. At the combine, or flying in for interviews, are limited availabilities, so those become more newsworthy (Teams are allotted 60 combine interviews, allowed to fly 30 prospects in for "in house" interviews).

What often happens, especially when not talking about legit top 15 prospects is teams will go out of their way to ensure no overlap. So Brooks being at the Senior bowl he's already had in person interviews with every team. He quite likely would have had very few at the combine (could play into being snubbed, honestly), and is also a less likely candidate for being flown in for an in-house interview.

I think Brooks is a legit top 125 talent. I don't see him going top 50, but I'm always surprised every year. I'll be very surprised if he doesn't go top 150, and absolutely stunned if he goes undrafted. He does have some warts, and his age will be a deterrent for him ending up with the Browns, unfortunately.

So you always read stories about this when in fact that was new this year (meeting with every team). 🤭

You are correct it was new this year that the Senior bowl formally announced that every team would meet with every player and have scheduled time to do so, but teams doing so is far from new. They've never been limited to how many players they could talk to and teams have always talked to virtually every player down there.

All 32 Teams came to pro day to see Karl.
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.
