I'm in the dark here. What did Berge do to burn bridges at BG?
Speaking for me only, while intellectually I understood the reasoning behind his departure and don't fault him for it, emotionally I felt like a jilted lover. When he looks back on his career I want him to say "Janice, we should have never left Bowling Green." I agree with everyone ahead of time that this is irrational.
I think others might reference the recruiting issues around a particular transfer but is that Berge or is it Barry (or Jimmy)?

Berge allowed it to happen. That burnt the bridge.

I didn't want to Berge to leave either. He had a really good thing going but it's hard to say no to your alma mater when it comes calling.
Regarding the transfer, I remember that vaguely. Wasn't sure if there was more to it. Thanks guys.
What's the deal with this Dennis Williams guy I kept hearing about during this WJC thing this past winter or does he hang out with Garry Galley in the bar named "Bridges That Have Been Burned to a Crisp?"
Only about 14 years too late on that one. Yet he keeps on winning.
Yeah, I think they burned that bridge when they hired Bergeron. I understand why they did it, but man, it stings.
Saying BG burnt the bridge with Williams is a great disservice to burnt bridges throughout the universe. They nuked it, pissed on the radioactive embers, and built a park over top of it.

Using backchannels with Will Cullen to get him to transfer to Miami.
That story becomes infinitely funnier when you realize he played 7 games at Miami before leaving for the pros. So you know Berge burned it all down for basically nothing.

I’d stay away from Krug…I’m sure he’s a decent coach, but Adrian has some pretty significant recruiting advantages over 98% of D3 programs. Their “academic scholarships” for athletics are pretty significant.
If Mel Pearson is still out there, I’m calling to see his interest. He is a borderline dick and he may think he’s above coaching at BG, but the guy can recruit. He could give you a legitimate shot at building a program capable of actually winning a conference.
I’d also look in Fogarty…I know he’s just okay at Princeton but that is a tough job and I know he’s a much better coach than Eigner. Not saying he’d be my first choice, but I’d consider him.
Otherwise I’d cast a wide net and try to get an assistant from a blue blood program with connections to the top junior programs in North America.

Time heals all wounds as does a change in administration.

I will use this to say DVDM could be the best Athletic Director at BG in my time alive. There's a lot of alumni with not so great feelings towards this place, and he is working his AZZ off to change that.
