This is so sad and also unsurprising. For years it was my favorite place in BG. Garrett & Griffin built a wonderful bar/restaurant in BG. The first place in town to do bar food the RIGHT way with fresh ingredients, sauces from scratch, local meats. The first place in BG to consistently have a great tap list. The first place in BG where the cocktails were all done correctly rather than some pre-made mix.

Unfortunately, they decided to move on to new adventures a few years ago (they actually sold it off the year before COVID). Revs was the first restaurant I was so looking forward to when we came out of pandemic quarantine, and boy was I disappointed. The new owners kept the same menu (largely) and just ruined nearly everything in their path. Pre-formed burger patties, pre-made sauces, etc. Hell we got the dip trio on our return and it was the worst guacamole I've ever had, it simply had to be from some package there is no way in hell you could turn fresh avocados into that.

It was my cheers in my 20s. THe place where I knew the bartenders and they knew me. It was where my wife and I went with our best friends for our post wedding reception drinks/fun. I'll probably never again have a place I love as much as I used to love Reverends. But the reverends I lovedh as been gone for 3 years now :(

This blows. Rev's was our hangout before a hockey game. First Myles, now Rev's. At least the Brathaus is still there.

This is exactly why Chip did what he did when he closed Myles in BG.

Yep. Chip was awesome and smart enough to realize what he had would be destroyed if put in the wrong hands. Abraham is absolutely knocking it out of the park at Halftime with his rendition of what Myles was (and in some ways I like his better, he's innovative and experimenting which is fun too). But the stuff in Chip's former building? Meh, I'll never eat it again.

BG needs to find the next Chef Garrett/Griffin or the next Chip. Reverend's is gone, time goes on. Myles is gone to SC, time moves on. I've not been real impressed by any of the newish BG eateries. There was a time when I lived in BG I rarely left town to eat because the town had better food options than anything north. After leaving town I still frequently drove to BG for Reverend's.

These days I struggle figuring out where to eat in BG when we're down there for a game. Pagliai's is always good, and Pork Belly is ok, but the city definitely needs somebody young to come in with some fresh ideas. Of course this current climate isn't the best to start a new restaurant concept, and I fully understand that.

Chip also never actually let anybody else make the sauce.

EVER.

I’ll be interested to see if Jans catches a stray and gets in some type of trouble with the NMSU situation. I’m betting something will get connected to him from the past few years. With how sensitive everyone is about everything, Mississippi State may cut ties quick. They just got a new AD so no real ties to the Jans hire.

From what I've seen, it's all completely unrelated to the Jans tenure. The roster had almost complete overturn in the offseason, and the issues were mostly regarding freshmen and new players (aside from the shooting earlier in the year, which seems to be unrelated to the program shutdown).

The hazing issue is completely outside of Jan’s tenure. Jans in a great spot now. He’s making big money with expectations that are reasonable. He might make the NCAA tournament in his first year at MSU. That would be some accomplishment.
