vs CMU
Re: vs CMU
4-9 in the MAC this year. 63-78 in the MAC in Year 8.
Insanity. Get this guy out of here.

Re: vs CMU
Who could have saw this coming? Everyone is so negative. Nope, this message board had Moosbrugger, Con Man, Huger, and Loeffler right from the beginning.
Re: vs CMU
This season is over now. Only 2 winnable games might as well start etim, McComb, and Lightfoot
Re: vs CMU
I'm no basketball savant by any means, but why is the player who is the high scorer and shooting pretty good on the bench for like 8 minutes in the second half? BTW, I'm a chili dog savant.

Re: vs CMU
I wouldn't play Curtis or Mills unless I absolutely have to.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: vs CMU
He's the worst coach we've had here. In terms of actually coaching the game he's worse than Orr or Dakich and I don't say that lightly.
Agee gets his 4th foul and we didn't bring him back in until 17s left? What are you saving him for?
Matheny sits for large stretches of the second half.
With a 14s possession our play out of a timeout is put the ball in Curtis's hands and run him off 2 screens to shoot a pull-up!? Did Huger realize that Curtis was the WORST shooter on the floor? He made 1 FG all game and is shooting under 40% from the field this season. Why in God's name would you put the game in his hands without a single pass in 14 seconds!?
Is he TRYING to get fired before the year is over?

Re: vs CMU
Turner, Matheney, Ayers can split the bulk of the minutes with help from Elsasser . Mills and Curtis get the James Erger minutes

Re: vs CMU
Could Bob Moosbrugger be in the discussion for worst AD in Mid-American Conference history at this point? BGSU requires a masters degree for any important position at the university, yet hired Bob with just a simple bachelor’s from BGSU. The Huger extension and raise was called idiotic from day 1. He couldn’t coach even in the good years. Once Stacey left all he had was a 30 percent raise and way too many years left to go. As BGSU makes its final payments to the unqualified AD it recently fired, it now begins a payment plan to the basketball coach it owes way too much money to. Incompetence, years and years of incompetent leadership unfolding in front of your eyes.
It’s fitting that a senior AD’s kid plays his senior season on the team, as the team falls apart, and the coach gets fired. That’s BGSU standards. Does dad assist in the buyout package?

Re: vs CMU
Just checked win probability chart on ESPN. At 68-57, BGSU had a 97% chance of winning. I watched the entire game and NEVER thought the win was in the bag. I was just waiting for the inevitable defensive meltdown.
By no means am I a basketball expert but I enough that to win your best players have to be in the game. That means your best ball handlers have to take it up the court. Your best shooters take the shots and your best defenders have to defend. Huger doesn't do any of these things. I kept saying, "Where the hell is Matheny?!?!?"
On the final possession, I couldn't believe the plan was to have Curtis heave up a prayer. Ayers, Matheny, Agee would have all been better choices.
We are going to get destroyed on Saturday and the Stroh is going to be packed with Rocket fans.

Re: vs CMU
There is no plan...Curtis just does what he always does. Stop ball movement to force a low percentage shot when there are clearly better options on the floor. I don't watch every minute of every game...but in my limited viewing, it sure does seem like Curtis and Mills like to force shots...it's difficult to establish any kind of offensive consistency when you have guys who play like that

Re: vs CMU
I pointed out to my wife on that final possession, up to the secondary statboard. I told her, take a look at the scoring totals for this game and guess for me which player Huger just asked to take that final shot. He was on the floor with 4 other guys who had all scored more in THAT game than he had. He had only taken 3 FGA, making one. He's been the worst shooter on the team this year of anybody who regularly plays. He's the worst 2pt shooter on the team and the worst 3pt shooter of the guys who actually take them.notkithughes wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 8:57 am Just checked win probability chart on ESPN. They inbounded the ball to Curtis and then Ayers came over. I figured it was to get him the ball. No, he sets a screen? And then another screen behind him, so Curtis can take the final shot. WT actual F!? You had plenty of time to move the ball around. You had plenty of time to run some 2 man action. You had plenty of time to do anything other than telling your worst effing shooter to make the game winning shot off the dribble. Even if the original plan was for him to attack the rim he's proven all year he doesn't finish at the rim when he does get there.
And if you DIDN'T have enough time to do anything like that? Why did you dribble the ball so much BEFORE calling that timeout!? We CHOSE to have a 14s possession instead of 25s or whatever. Then we do nothing creative with it.
I'm not a basketball savant. I'm sure as hell not an Xs & Os genius. But for the love of everything you could at least TRY TO DO SOMETHING. And the worst part of this, is I'm 90% certain we've had these exact same rants every year when games come down to one or two big possessions. At least in years past we were putting the ball in the hands of Justin Turner or Daeqwon Plowden (who incidentally I think left the game at halftime, because he wasn't behind the bench anymore in the 2nd half that I could see).
Re: vs CMU
Justin Turner made an incredible amount of game winning or near game winning shots off isolation in his career. It was no secret Huger couldn’t coach. Ken Pom has a luck factor component in the rankings. BG was ranked insanely high in that category consistently during the Turner years. Jason Knavel and the athletic communication staff would tweet at Ken Pomeroy lamenting his low ranking of BGSU overall and make light of the luck factor in his rankings. He was right, BGSU and the BGSU tweeters were dead wrong like they usually are.
