Or what Ferris served in theirs so it doesn't make its way here.

If you're Northern, do you have your players pack for an extra week? Or plan on making the same bus ride 4 times in ten days?

1 win (regulation or OT) would clinch

1 point would clinch if Bemidji fails to sweep in regulation

We can also get swept and still finish 3rd as long as Bemidji wins less than 5 points. I believe Bemidji would win in the case of a tie because they would have more conference wins in that scenario.

If there was ever a year to win the tournament this is it. No elite teams in the conference and you wouldn’t have to play Mankato until the championship in a 1 game winner take all.

I don’t think BG will do it, I actually think they’ll lose in the first round if they play NMU. Still it wouldn’t be a shock if the team won a home series and then went and beat Tech on the road.

With two weeks still to play in their regular season, Miami State has officially locked up last place in the Nachos. Did I mention there are still two weeks left in their regular season?

Bergeron has not won a game this calendar year.

Corey Pronman from the Athletic lists Swankler as the #4 Collegiate/Euro free agent available this spring behind a guy in the SHL and two collegiate RHD.

I expect so, and I would be if I were him. He has a shot at playing in the NHL pretty much right away. One of the best talents I've seen at BG since I started following hockey back in '06.

I can feel good for him going pro after the season ends. Transferring to Nodak or BC or some other blue blood would be a huge kick in the balls.

This, for sure.

Thinking about that 2021 class - if all 10 of them (9, without Craggs) had gone pro instead of leaving for a final year at another school, think about how differently that would've felt.

In the same article where Pronman listed Swankler #4 in the Projected to Play NHL Games category, he also listed Malmstom #13 in the Has a Chance to Play NHL Games category. Interestingly enough, he lists Ryan McAllester from Western at #29 in the Longshots to Play in the NHL category. Link to the article: https://theathletic.com/4213022/2023/02 ... ee-agents/
4. Austen Swankler, C, Bowling Green-CCHA: After bouncing around a few junior teams, including a full OHL season, he was exempted to play college hockey after taking a full year off. Swankler has found his form this year as one of the top scorers in college. Swankler has excellent skill. He is able to dangle college defensemen routinely and shows tremendous small-area puckhandling abilities. He can create a lot with his offensive creativity. The big knock on Swankler was his skating, which used to be terrible. It’s still not an asset, but it’s improved notably, and with a cleaner stride he’s been able to maximize his skill more often. He’s a good pro prospect, but he may be going back to school for his junior season. If he decides to come out there will be plenty of suitors.
13. Anton Malmstrom, LHD, Bowling Green-CCHA: Malmstrom is a 6-foot-4 defenseman who can skate very well for a defender his size. He projects to make a lot of stops at the pro level because of his athleticism. He has very little to no puck game though and his hockey sense will be a major question at higher levels.

Swankler would be smart to strike while the iron is hot. Come back for another year and several bad things can happen which could lower his stock. I expect he'll be gone next for 2023-24.

Playoff tickets for the CCHA quarterfinal series at home next weekend (opponent TBD) go on sale this morning at 10am.

We'll be there for Game 2, and we're looking forward to it!

In the coaches talk tonight a question was asked of Eigs about Augustana. He shared that we along with Ferris were no votes each time and that the Lakers were on the fence. He also shared that ASU is “the elephant in the room” to get to 10 league teams.
