Reece's father proved to be an idiot on Twitter and out here. One of the things he said was that Joe was never in the wrong about anything. Joe chose to blow off the CMU road trip due to "mental health".
To be fair, Ayers and Curtis might be approaching things differently under a different coach, but who knows? There's no actual evidence to think so.

Having dealt very closely with young people battling depression..."mental health" can be a very valid reason for missing a lot of things
