There are about 363 schools in Division I. Just nine have been trying and failing to get to the NCAA tournament for as long or longer than Bowling Green.
Of those schools, The Citadel (never), St. Francis Brooklyn (never), Dartmouth (1959), and Columbia (1968) are definitely not going to be in the tournament.
Hope is still alive for these five other teams:
-- Tennessee Tech (1963), a two seed, plays Southeast Missouri (5) in the Ohio Valley final tonight.
-- Maine (never), a seven seed, plays at Massachusetts-Lowell in the America East quarterfinals today.
-- New Hampshire (never), a three seed, hosts Bryant (6) in the America East quarterfinals today.
-- Army (never), a four seed, plays Colgate (1) in the Patriot League semifinals Sunday.
-- William & Mary (never) looks like they are going to beat Elon in a second round Colonial Athletic tournament game. The eight-seed Tribe will face top-seed Hofstra tomorrow.

And it's been 45 years since BG hockey won a league title of any kind (regular season or tournament).
Two of the 3 main men's sports at BG and between them -- 100 years of failure.

1988 - I was at the Joe for the hockey tournament championship (2023 - 1988 = 35 years).Falconwriter wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 3:36 pm And it's been 45 years since BG hockey won a league title of any kind (regular season or tournament).

Still very disappointing for a school that claims to be a hockey school.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

The list is now eight. St. Francis Brooklyn is dropping Division I athletics after this school year.Schadenfreude wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 1:57 pm There are about 363 schools in Division I. Brooklyn is...apparently...no longer the top of the food chain
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
