MM potential movers:
Jerrod Calhoun
Johnny Dawkins
Darian DeVries
Baker Dunleavy
Jared Grasso
Ron Hunter
Robert Jones
Pat Kelsey
Dustin Kerns
Matt Langel
Dusty May
Grant McCasland
Paul Mills
Joe Pasternack
Rick Pitino
Leon Rice
Bob Richey
Richie Riley
Takayo Siddle
A name I like from this list that I think could be realistic (I know it's not a BG specific list as there is a mix of coaches from conferences higher and lower than the MAC on here) is Bob Richey from Furman. Outside of a 16-9 record during the pandemic season of 2020-21 his teams have won at least 22 games every other season he has been coach. What impresses me even more is every season he has been there Furman has finished in the top 3 of the Southern Conference. Now he is from New Orleans and has only ever coached at schools in South Carolina, so lack of midwest ties could be a concern.

Bob Richey is a fantastic coach and recruiter, but unfortunately he’s about to have some much richer suitors than us ringing his phone.

A couple of those OVERs will be in the NIT. Not sure if that warrants a delayed interview, but worth considering. I would expect a new coach won't be announced before Final Four weekend.

You think it takes a month to interview and hire? That seems pretty far out but I don't remember the other timelines.

Jans was announced on 3/23 after WSU bowed out of the tourney (I think they were in the dance that year). We may have had an inkling before he was hired waiting until they were done. Orr was announced in early April.

Since BGSU is a state funded institution...doesn't the job have to be posted publicly for a certain number of days?

It will be posted, but they can use an emergency hire stipulation and they don’t have to leave the position open for a long length. They could post it for a few days and make a hire if they want. They only do that with FB, MBB, maybe hockey. All the other coaching positions usually stay open for a least 21 or 30 days.

Imagine all of the complaining about parking, concessions and walking up and down stairs we could do if Jerrod Calhoun could fill the Stroh like that.

I don’t like the idea of Deibler. The team he is on just had the same collapse we did. Not appealing.

I still firmly believe we have the potential of consistently putting a lot of butts in the seats at the Stroh. I don't think anybody was ever all in with the direction Huger's teams were going, but when they were winning a few years back we had a few games in a row over 3500. Buffalo & UT both hit capacity, I believe. That was in a season where we were picked dead last and surprised everybody by playing well. So, in the course of a single season we were able to go from zero expectations to filling the arena for big games.

I fully believe if we build a program where winning is expected, and the team actually backs that up, we will quickly start seeing thousands of people in attendance again. It's a nice arena, it's a fun place to watch a game, it's winter in NW Ohio. I know I used my ticket swap to bring a buddy and his wife/kid to the UT game, and his son left that game asking if they could come back sometime.

Make the games fun, build a winner, people will come.
